One big advantage of being ex-directory is privacy.

Howard is right NOT TO publish his phone call
For me i dont agree with banning(but dont have all the info) im willing to take chris's view point and maybe if david is re instated he can state his position maybe he agreed to a ban?
There has to be some way to stop personal insults9i speak about quite a few posters0open debate is fine
personal slurs no matter how much frustration is involved shouldn't happen.
So from chris;s viewpoint david did have a number of warnings before any ban.
post 55 i have to say i agree with most of it

well the easiest way to stop them is for people not to post them
but what to one person appears to be a personal insult is fair comment to another and that dear folks is the rub

oh please do Keith, but given my fairly infrequent posting due to the dearth of topics and posts that pique my interest it may be a long old time matey

I have a feeling that on this forum, everyone is equal but that some, like moderators and those who have previously provided financial support to the forum, are more equal than others. There is much anecdotal evidence that banned or suspended members have not been advised of any decision to exclude them or given any opportunity to defend themselves. There are also many examples of certain charmed individuals getting away with breathtaking insults without any retribution. Obviously David Little is not among the latter group; his forthright approach is a breath of fresh air on the forum and his banning is a travesty.

I note that David's profile states "Last active on 18 December 2012". Does that mean that he's back in the land of the living?

Did we not exhaust the subject of those whose inaction on the forum had led to their membership being considered as 'lapsed', and their 'seat' falling available to another, some time ago? It was asserted at that time that such folk could rejoin without any hassle, if there was a vacancy.
While there is something mysterious about the process of 'banning', I am sure much of this has to do with the individual's privacy, and some do receive the occasional tip as to their conduct before the axe falls. If the exclusions were to be of an entirely temporary manner their incidence would surely increase and relationships/inter-relationships would be severely tested. As things stand, as I understand it, if somebody's behaviour goes beyond the bounds, a discussion is held among those charged with the running of the forum and action is taken to remove a member, I understand also that a new approach can be made for reinstatement.
Perhaps a middle way could be found:Warning, short term ban, long term ban. I am a little uneasy about permanent exclusion, especially of any member with a track record of pertinent participation.

Don't know what David has done as I have been ignoring the forum after the way I was made to feel downright unwelcome last month and a lot of pretty unpleasant anti-German sentiment was allowed to go unchecked and made me feel very uncomfortable. And if any of the people involved want to start it over again as result of this post I will ignore it. I made my views known to Howard at the time, who, incredibly, deemed it OK.
I have always found David to be a decent guy from this forum and our business dealings and hope he is back soon.

The DPP has apparently been keeping an eye on the forum and issued new

I see Paul has been posting elsewhere, so he is obviously looking in to see if David is back
Chris don't worry too much about these old bruisers! They are thick skinned political animals who understand the rough and tumble of life. Sometimes they will post, sometimes they will not. Sometimes they can give answers sometimes they won't; but the basic right of David to hold them and their public service to account on a public forum is sacrosanct. I had always thought that elected people were fair game for a prod and a probe on public matters and if they don't come up with adequate answers or explanations then you prod and probe them again! David has an ability to prod and probe in a very demanding manner for sure, but he should be applauded for that not silenced!
If anyone is worried about what Paul, Roger or Sue thinks, please don't! They will have long memories of course, but for goodness sake, water and ducks backs come to mind. Paul knows how hard David has been working for the Town recently and is well used to political dog fights. I would be shocked if he or the other two have asked for David to be banned, and if they did it would be disgraceful beyond measure.
So it seems that David is not posting still, which must mean he is still out. When is the next sitting of the Kangaroo Court?

Your are right there Simon,in politics you have to take the rough with the smooth. If you had been coming home early today you would have heard a River resident harrasing me and using verbal abuse In his opinion .Im overpaid and do little for the community.
Happy days .
