have been hearing rumblings about this since last thursday paul, aimed at the forum and not an individual.
i always ignore cowardly anonymous stuff any disrespect has been shown by those who allowed the memorial viewable by the public without checking the inscriptions.
as for litigious the camera cannot lie, maybe you should report the matter to the police?

All I will say is this inhabitant of Dover is very grateful you pointed out the errors and thereby saved the town great embarrassment.
Looks like a form of cyber bullying to me and best ignored, but if it continues might be worth reporting it even though I doubt the police will do anything.

Anonymous emails?
I'm nor sure how such a thing is done, but I fancy it would take a little effort. It is the hight of irony that such a cowardly act attempts to assume the high-ground....you just couldn't make it up.

Anonymous as far as they don't say who they are or who they represent but I will be in contact with the Channel Dash Association
That aside, I am more interested in if people see the malice or offence or anything litigious in me posting the images. That is the last thing I want to be doing
Been nice knowing you :)

Hi Paul, didn't see anything malicious in photographing and posting the pictures of the monument.

Mr Scotchie was dead right in what he done,of the spelling errors,we in Dover get alot of stick at times, and if he had not pointed it out,the service would have gone a head and then it would have been found out on the day and that would have been a headliner,so well done to him for doing what he done.

I am sure that all involved were acutely and embarrassingly aware of the textual errors before the monument was in situ and arrangements to have the faults corrected were well under way by then and, as I have tried to explain before, the stark blunder in all of this was that the monument was left naked prior to the unveiling.
What earthly point there is in bullying PaulW is beyond me.
The Channel Dash Association and I were in communication over this issue prior to the unveiling ceremony and I have made their views and their event information known to all here and as far as I can tell the whole event went swimmingly. How a mind once relieved of worry and reassured by a positive public response can dream up notions of reprisal is matter for a therapist.
To recap, for any who may looking in. Whatever rending-of-hair and gnashing-of-teeth has accompanied this (thoroughly successful) commemoration none of it was, or can be said to have been, caused by the Doverforum or any of it's members and contributors.

One thing I find disturbing is - what is the point Paul's critic trying to make?
Is it malicious, offensive and litigious to draw attention to something that is evidently shoddiness on the part of more than one person prior to the placing of the memorial on the seafront?. Howard mentions "rumblings" .... but what are they?
It seems to me that there are two possibilities here. Either the anonymous person has completely got the wrong end of the stick and feels the Forum is being critical of the memorial itself, which is clearly absurd, or ..... he feels we haven't the right to raise the issue of this example of sloppiness which we should slavishly accept, and if we don't like it ..... tough!
By raising this issue Paul has helped to give the town, and more importantly the veterans, a memorial to be proud of.

what i don't quite understand is that checks were not made prior to it leaving china ,especially bearing in mind that the manufacturers were working in a foreign language and the text was very detailed.
to be fair they done very well considering.

Aww Paul - don't let it worry you. As has already been said, people afraid to put a name to a comment are just cowards. Even apart from the excellent photos of Operation Fuller you have taken, your continued photos, information and interesting posts on our Forum are interesting in the extreme and I think it's safe to say that we all appreciate your work. Thank you Paul

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

As you only reported what was already there Paul then you cant be blamed for anything. This is a case of blaming the messenger...so I hope whoever is sending the anonymous emails will let it go now. We all did great all round coverage on Doverforum which covered every aspect of the event. It was a full picture.

I agree with what has been said in the above postings, as Howard said in his post 181 if this person has to stay anonymous then they are very cowardly.
The coverage and the pictures of this event were excellent, could this person have done better?

Congratulations to the Channel Dash Memorial Trust, who remembered and honoured all those men who were so very brave that day - and gave us the chance to do so also.
