I did no such thing, the words I posted are my own, if they were similar to yours then you obviously have better taste than I first thought, all I did was reply to your bigoted & insulting post.

Reading the Express today it seems that our mayor is to push ahead with where she wants the flagpole to be sited, continuing to ignore the citizens of and the advice of Dovers planning committee. How do we scrap our town council they do no good for Dover, so lets save some money and get rid!

Maybe you should buy the Mercury as well Reginald, then you would see a different report which explains it is nothing at all to do with the mayor ignoring the planning committee and doing what she wants. The application that was put in was as agreed at a full town council meeting by the councillors who are elected to do such matters on behalf of the residents, DDC planning committee approved that plan but did recommend that DTC "look again at the siting of the pole" (Mercury quote).
But the Decision Notice only approved the application as received, presumably the officers told the committee after the meeting that it could only be approved as submitted, if they wanted to change the position then a revised application would need to be submitted.
The full application and Decision Notice is
here.

Understood Ray but those councillors elected by us to do right by us did approve something that we the residents did not ask for, the committee knew that, which is why the recommendedation to look at the position again was added. But my point is the mayor has from day one not been listening, after much opposition, she proposed the current siting of the flagpole at the full DTC meeting not the DTC or residents of Dover.

They can only consider the application as it was submitted. It is only an advisory about looking at positioning the flag elsewhere, not enforceable and they don't have to take any notice of it (this was said in the meeting). It was bad that some of the planning committee did not even know the memorial was designed by a veteran from Dover or even read all the information that was submitted by the way they carried on. Either way as from the application that they considered before this they can only consider it as submitted and reject on planning grounds. And as has been raised before many people do not want a flag pole in the memorial garden or even next to the memorial. At least a flag pole is going up, not everyone going to be happy but alas that's democracy, it has been decided and every ones views have been considered and this is the compromise.

The main point for me is that the planning committee knew the siting was an issue as did the mayor's office but only one lot mentioned it.

The main trouble as I see it are two strong willed people who dislike each other so much they will cause as many problems for each other as they possibly can, one will say white so the other will say black.

As they said in the meeting it is not for them to decide on the siting in the planning application, but they only decide on the planning application as it has been submitted and can only enforce a change if it effects planning issues. They did say in the meeting the DTC had considered two options and this was the option they had applied for.

Might be an idea if Mrs Pearson relaxed and took the chip off her shoulder for a while, best to face the fact she will never be mayor.

I did not realise you were a clairvoyant Howard

I really must take issue with posts 168 and 168. The decision that was taken in December by DTC was based on pre planning advice received from DDC, I took no,part in the discussion/ decision, and indeed did not vote.

That won't stop the Pearson woman spreading her bile although many people have seen through her now.
