Do we want public transport run in the interests of the public , or run to look after shareholders ?
WE (apart from a few lefty loonies driven by jealousy) don't give a damn as long as the thing works efficiently and effectively.
Bezos for example is one of the richest men on the planet BUT I get cheap stuff delivered to my door within 24 hours by Amazon. Can you imagine ANY Government building such an organisation.
The same for Google and Apple etc etc.
I suggest such as British Leyland would never have developed a Tesla car however long they had or how many billions were pumped in.
BTW the Leicester result is a rather worrying one for everyone. Leicester has had riots between the cow-worhipping 'Indians' and the Mohammedan 'Pakis' for some while.
Labour stood a BJP supporting Hindu in a mostly Muslim area and got thrashed. I find it extremely worrying that a persons religion or ethnic background might change voting patterns.

I still think the later is one of the reasons inept Truss managed to get elected as PM.

It is remarkable that the Tory membership genuinely thought that Truss was a better option than Sunak.

Not my fault. Voted Sunak.
Ideally would have voted Kemi Badenoch.

Maybe time for the Tory membership to press for a more democratic choice in future where they choose who is on the ballot paper rather than the MPs who choose their pals.

I see no other outcome right now than a GE. The Tories know they will lose and I am even starting to wonder whether they might take the view that the sooner we are out, the sooner we get back in again.

It always starts with the lunatics, Captain. She'll be out by Christmas - this is unsustainable; dual pressure of the polls and the fact that the right seem to be under the impression that the party has been hijacked by moderates.

Apart from Tory loss of face that would be a clever idea then Labour could be on the receiving end of all the money problems rather than them. They could sit opposite at Westminster and say 'we would not have done it like that' as Labour do now.
If Tories want even a remote chance of winning the next election Truss must go now, they must then choose a new leader the public might respect and like rather than just from that small Westminster clique.

Looks like they will replace Truss
She's damaging them
On the other side though Starmer still expelling members or not allowing local members decide who there local candidate will be to GE

Hm. Giving power to local party members who don't converse with constituents in general; can't see that catching on!

I doubt it - she's seeing out her time by giving a speech in the HoC tomorrow! Taking back control and all that.

Start by at least allowing your local party to select it's candidate unlike in recent Leicester by election
(Any comments Neil/Brian ?)
Truss appears to be dead wood now, nearly all what she campaigned for to get the leadership been reversed .
How long does the party allow her to drift on?

Maybe that should read have an input as it all depends on whether the proposed candidate is actually who the local people are likely to vote for in the first place.

It's a little difficult here to see what affects imposing candidates on local members will have on Elphicke and the Tories in general
