The whole pitiful saga is indicative of a democratic deficit at the heart of our politics.

As ever the Con(men) put party ahead of Country & ignore the concept of democracy & continue to make us a laughing stock.
Even those Tory MPs who have had enough of the farce worry not about the country but how they will pay the bills when they lose their seats

Last thing we want Bob is Boris back .
It's one of the reasons we are in this mess

Let's get him back. Over 50 ministers resigned under his leadership because they considered him unfit to govern. Already various MPs of the non-parasitic kind have said they will refuse the whip if he returns. Another unfit government is just what is needed right now for the sole reason that it would make a general election inevitable.

Odds on Johnson have shortened to 2:1. In the spreadsheet that Capt Haddock linked, I see there are two CCHQ vice chairs supporting him; I wonder if either is the Vice-Chair (Communities and Engagement) - a position held by Mrs E?

If proven liar Boris gets chosen as leader again heaven help us. It will prove the Westminster Tories have no scruples at all and have little idea how many of their long term past voters feel about him.

Would he stand knowing the economic storm that awaits? I mean, really, what will he do? Nobody wants to hear about vaccines any more, and the old chestnut of hiding behind Zelensky has run its course.

Hell yes - shades of "the election was stolen"! Plus of course he did Get Brexit Done. OK, I only said that to wind Ray up. And talking of Ray, I have some sympathy with the view that Boris should come back - only in 2nd place, doesn't stand down, goes to the constituency membership and leads the Tories into an SDP moment.
Looks like Natalie has yet to express a preference, since the spreadsheet has replaced posts with people and her name has yet to appear.

Interesting roger gale said he won't work under Boris
But has heard a rumour Boris may lose his seat so is looking at North Thanet seat
And if Boris wins the leadership. Gale would stand as an Indy
It's not about knowing the ward , just in bor I s case saving his seat so he can go on with his large salary

Kind of you to think of me, Button. But I'm passed the point of getting wound up about Brexit now. The abject stupidity of the hard Brexit forced upon us by our floundering Tory leaders is now so blatantly obvious that it hardly merits further comment.
That doesn't mean I'll never post on the subject again though.

If the best Tories can do is put forward a disgraced ex leader (Boris)
Or someone that came second to Truss
Shows how far the party has gone

Ditto, Ray. What’s astonishing is that there is an entire wing on the Tory party (ERG) who seem to have put the NI Protocol above everything else. The NI Protocol? Do any of you care about the NI Protocol? It’s an incredibly niche issue and I am quite sure doesn’t keep anyone up at night. And back in the real world, mortgages are going to rocket and utility bills soar. But yes, you prioritise the NI Protocol!

It is now fairly obvious Penny Mordaunt should give up.
If she had enough support that she claims more names would have been made public, by continuing her desire to become the next leader/PM all she is doing is to divide the party yet again.
This country badly needs stability not more selfish infighting.

Just wait until the nuclear war, when with coms down the Captain of one of our nuclear submarines opens up the sealed letter written by our PM for such eventualities and reads just two words.
