I understand that Dover and Deal Labour Party have voted to back Jeremy Corbyn in the Leadership contest. Not known how many votes Jeremy Corbyn and Owen Smith received.

Rather worrying if true Peter, surely members should be able to vote individually in line with their conscience I don't see Cllrs Heron and Wallace bowing down to the bullying despicable Mike Eddy.

Howard, the local party have nominated Corbyn and I expect the vote to be one person, one vote.
The vast majority of Kent branches have nominated Corbyn so far..UK wide it is over 200 branches have voted to nominate Corbyn and 32 branches for Smith...Jeremy4PM?
I cannot comment on the character of Cllr Eddy..I am sure Captain Haddock will give a character reference.

Howard there is a world of difference between branches voting to nominate a candidate and the election of the candidate.
Labour party rules require candidates to be nominated by branches, MPs and MEPS those receiving sufficient nominations are then put forward for election on the basis of one member one vote across all those members eligible to participate

The game of musical chairs continues as an appeal court decides the NEC were right in the first place so Labour have spent around £250, 000 of members money to stop members voting in the leadership election.

Howard,I am refusing to engage with the self indulgent and ego driven activities undertaken by those in Westminster village. The energies that both sides have expended during the course of this contest would have been far more rewardingly focused on communities and people that are in dire need of representation and a voice. It is a prime example of naval gazing at the worse possible moment. All sides need to come together to work for the greater good at this time.

A very sensible post by Cllr. John Heron.Even though I oppose the party, John represents and the party Charlie Elphicke represents. A year so far, has been wasted by Labour in their seemingly non ending "Leadership " contest which will leave a legacy of bitterness. It is worth noting that it may be less than 4 years to the next general election and no one knows Labour's policies while the PLP have been briefing against each other. There are still 1 million people who go to food banks and numerous people sleeping in doorways while the Labour Party are acting like a petulant student union. Our democracy ,demands a Strong Opposition, against a Strong Government. Checks and Balances by debate not street protests or revolution.

One would think with the Labour Party in turmoil May and company would be pushing ahead with their plans to transform the country somehow.
All we seem to have so far is prevarication with decisions on HS2, Heathrow Third Runway and Hinkley Point put off, yet again, for some time in the future in spite of the fact that all the all the possible information to make a decision has been knocking around for years and the only 'facts' likely to change are construction costs, which will not go down.
Very disappointing IMHO.

The more I read about Corbyn the more worried I get about the Labour party, he reads a prepared statement at shadow cabinet meetings and doesn't take questions, He also believes that we have two years to trigger article 50 rather than two years to leave after it is invoked.

Didn't recognise any of the Labour people at their street stall this morning, normally Clair hawkins, her mum and dad, Gwyn Prosser, Mike Eddy are there - sometimes Gordon Cowan and Peter Wallace.
Charlie was holding court this morning outside the Town Council offices.

Opposed to Grammar Schools eh? You'll be telling me that children are doing extra tutoring to get good A levels to get into such as Oxford University next! About time we put a stop to that?
Personally, I think the quicker someone is told they are thick and/or lazy the better so they can make appropriate plans.
