Foolhardy is a more accurate word so far as my own voting intention is concerned! It is a carrot I grant you but nebulous like the 'hey, let's leave the EU and Take Back Control' one. My worry, however, is that this carrot comes to pass (under either administration) - way too Big Yellow Taxi for my liking.

Not getting into the EU fiasco the UK did hoodwink the public on the vote , and now have to suffer all the earnings that were given out at the time.
I do understand Neil your a great advocate for the anti Tory brigade , but not so good on the pro Starmer fiasco.
Put in the real world the Labour party is not convincing the electorate it's the alternative govt, that should really worry you with all that's going on with the Tories .
Just a small note on princess parade , that is a great win for greens , who really have taken over a strong Tory area , but they will find it difficult over its stand on the other major development
Ottopool where, during the election they gave the local electorate the impression they opposed it and that's why the leader Monk lost his seat.
But they since announced they never were opposed to it, worse , one of the leading green cllrs
Sits on the ottopool board .
!ocals in that area are up in arms

Labour membership numbers have dropped by a whopping 10,000 in just two months, with nearly 50,000 members fleeing the party in total since last August. According to NEC member Luke Akehurst, Labour now has 385,324 paid-up members, down by 138,000 since Sir Keir became party leader three years ago…

You still avoid the question.
So here we are now with a Govt that is going out of office , but look at Starmer , he's as unpopular as the Govt !
So replaced with much the same .
Look at the latest Tunbridge Wells labour clkr whip withdrawn for watching the Lie.

Keith it is always possible to find party supporters who are unhappy with their leader regardless of whether they will still vote for that party. I would guess a party name is all that matters for far too many right or left of political centre

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Did you fail to renew your membership?

Of course this time Bob is correct on membership, many will have been expelled or left in disgust .
Jan indeed a party can be supported but ok Labour used to be about being a broad church of people , but now it's clearly not.
It's about finding policies that Labour may have that people can get behind.
To put out in very early days that you are going to carry on with Conservative policies for at least two years is ok and will bring on light Tories support .
But if you want change of some kind do you just carry on as you are ?
If that's the case you might as well continue with this out of touch Govt.

Phew! The financial implications of that membership fall had me worried for a moment. Then I remembered that we actually pay for Richard Burgon's new PA, so that's a relief.

Forumites (dread word might be interested in this week's SpecckieTV (as Ray H amusingly insists on calling it!)
The first section is Katy Balls and former Labour advisor John McTernan discussing Labour’s move towards a pro-business party.
(The last section is Rory Sutherland explaininng how he eats 'for free'in Deal.

So Neil , hopefully your looking In?
Hopefully before the next general election the unions will look again at forcing it's support on a party that maybe many of its members don't support .
There are many discussions taking place within unions to withdraw funding to Starmer .
Also break away parties again coming up .
All this just leaves the majority scratching heads
Over to you Neil .

Good morning, Keith. The reverse is true, actually! I've just been in the UK for an extended period and was kept very busy! Enjoyed the Torquay game...
Anyway, it feels to me that we're in a holding pattern - both parties are moving more towards the center to the frustration of their right and left wing champions. I don't see much changing in the near future and we'll inch closer and closer to the election. The government will be hoping some kind of unforeseen event pops up to give them something to lead on as at the moment, it seems an odd set up. Sunak like a CEO diligently going about his business, while the Board grows ever more concerned about his lack of ambition.
This all ends with a repeat of 1987, and the Murdoch press declaring support for Labour.

I presume from your reply things are great with your Labour party.
As you say we head towards election , your view is correct the national press are happy with Starmer as he's not going to do anything that's going to give them any grief .
The wider media , business, ect the real people running country who decide who's going to govern , see Starmer as safe .
You continue to avoid
Starmer is seen as safe as he not going to change anything the Tories presently do for at least two years,
Continues to expel his own members
No support unions
Anti trade union laws to remain under Labour
Little support for workers
The list goes on, and noticed you carefully avoided all the above (there's lots more)
So if we are only going to get a weakened second rate Tory party , no wonder the likes of Murdoch are happy and support Labour.
With Murdoch's previous history hardly great to have his support .
It's sad we don't have choice
Apathy will win next election
