The Dover and Deal Constituency Labour Party have noticed that the tweet in question was posted and have now deleted it. We are investigating how this came about to ensure that our Twitter account is secure. The CLP endorses and supports all measures taken by the Labour Party to make sure that racism and antisemitism is not seen in our Party, which has always opposed discrimination in all forms.

We wonder if the Tory Party seriously believes it has a good record on this matter. What is their complaints procedure which allowed Bob Frost, a local councillor, to remain in the Tory Party after a number of disgusting racist tweets? Mr Frost may now sit as an independent but this is because he decided to leave.

What about Mr Elphicke, who walked proudly behind the 30 racists who came to march in Dover in 2016, which undoubtedly gave moral support to those of his constituents who have racist sympathies? One has only to look at the comments below this post to see the attitudes of many of his followers. After that he dares to find this tweet “chilling”!

Not a good idea to bring Charlie into the argument when Labour's Diane Abbott was busy shouting her mouth off in the Market Square during those same awful marches.

 1. Their account is secure.

 2. I wonder which one of the idiots posted it?

Which is why 1/3 of immigrants are thinking of leaving the UK? Whoops. My mistake. That's Jews thinking of leaving due to anti-Semitism.

And Britain is actually one of the LEAST racist countries in Europe.

 - Some interesting stats in that CAA report, though they weren't the ones highlighted by that organ of fair reporting, The Sun (that article, by the way, is 18 months old). Though the Labour Party scored highest of all political parties perceived by British Jews to be 'harbouring antisemites', the number of respondents believing the Conservative Party to be 'too tolerant of antisemitism' increased by almost 60% in a year. The perception of UKIP was high at 41%, but the Greens are next on 40% followed by the Liberal Democrats on 36% and the SNP on 32%. The YouGov results actually show that, while the Labour Party is perceived as being inept in dealing with antisemitism, 'Labour Party supporters are less likely to be antisemitic than other voters'. -

 - You can blame the Labour Party for many things (the Iraq War, financial deregulation, Jack Straw) but hardly for desecrating a Jewish memorial in Strasbourg. - 'Pass the cow dung, my dropsy's killing me' - Heraclitus

 - In previous centuries many Jews sought refuge in the UK as our country was regarded as a safe haven from persecution in mainland Europe. Just saying.

 - Post #32. That's very true, RM, but you'll have noticed that the Labour Party has become, by frequent and repeated association, the convenient whipping boy for all our anti-Semitic sins. It would be fairer to have a separate thread for anti-Semitism, or even more broadly for racism, as this would enable us to bring all reports of racist actions, and uses of derogatory racial epithets, slurs and phrases (such as, for example, 'jungle bunnies'), together for consideration. Just saying, of course.

 - I did have an ironic chuckle over Labour's suspension of Trevor Phillips. There he was a few months back publicly refusing to vote Labour as its definition of antisemitism wasn't wide enough; now he's complaining that its definition of 'Islamophobia' is too wide. -
And he's wrong, too, that Labour is in danger of collapsing into a 'brutish, authoritarian cult'. It already is one, and he helped to make it so.
