When I post it is not just for the ``core` members but for the 500 plus members.
I regard Health as a public concern and should be available on the main page.
This policy stigmatizes politics and restricts full transparency of views.
The members who dislike politics have the choice of not reading the posts.leaving the remainder of the 500 to
to carry on searching.for matters that concern everyone.Take the tick box away ,lets be open to all views on the main page.

No they have done right in geting it out of the way, then anyone who wants to hear a onesided story can log into it. All partys can have ago at each other and rest of us can get on with our lifes.

Our lives are affected by politics, why stick our heads in the sand and hope it will go away?

Hopefully the original author can make the right choice about which forum a topic is best suited to - but it's no problem if it goes in the wrong place, Howard and I can move it if necessary.
The idea is to make it easier for people to find the discussions that may interest them.

If it's a topic that's predominantly about politics, then it should go in the Politics Forum. Apart from that, the usual Dover Forum is fine.

Chris
politics affects our everyday life, and it could be viewed that no matter the subject there is a political side to it.
up to now the forum has worked well,
As you say there are pages and pages of threads that any poster can add to
or even start ones themselves/
no one has to post on any political thread but tend to.
as has been said before politics gets the most posters
There are many threads that I dislike, so I don't post on them
but would never dream of getting them moved off the main page
so please calm down, lets keep things as they are

No, we're just hoping you go away Reg.
If there's one thing worse than your brand of politics, it's your brand of cut and paste politics.

I've got similar views to Paul on this, I'd like to see some posters confined to the Politics forum!

At this rate we should have a forum for every subject
why single out one subject?

Because those regulars that post on political subjects are incapable of reasoned argument or informed opinion.
Cut and paste sound bites and the inability to consider opposing views are the order of the day and people are switching away from the forum. You now have your own playground to pull hair and strop in...

Is there any point to the "Local News Comment" forum? It is rarely used and there is nothing there that couldn't be on the "Dover Forum" forum.

Thank you Chris I just hope it is used by those whose only interest in life seems to be politics. With a bit of luck we might even get some who because this forum has become so full of Politics with a big P back posting again.
Yes politics do affect our every day life but there is more to this world than just national politics and the associated bickering therefore I agree with Paul and what Chris has done.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Keith (Bibby), please try to be sensible about this. We're just giving it a go because a lot of people have stopped reading and/or posting on the forum due to the amount of politics that creeps into everything. I've not taken away anyone's ability to post, I've just moved a few things around.

This really is desperate stuff,
I welcome all threads to remain on the main page
I may not like them, or wish to post on them
but that's whatt he forum's about,
we are in danger of going down a slippery slope
who will be next to decide they don't like a subject so remove it elsewhere

Unusual but im finding myself agreeing with keith b
Without doubt the forum is varied and so many threads could be put up/posted upon
not all my posts end up in the political threads I post on many others that I choose to.
But I would never want to go down the road of removing a subject just because I might disagree with it, that's a slippery slope
Also why blame politics as a subject? there may be a range of reasons why people decide to post/not post
KEEP IT ON THE MAIN PAGE I SAY
