Wow! that was a good get Peter..quite a rare automobile by the sound of it. Armstrong Siddeley definitely a name from the past..didnt they do aircraft as well?
Or was that Hawker Siddeley..its bewildering trying to remember back.
Glad you saw it Martin..looks delightfully old fashioned. Hope it wasnt you he nearly missed!!

I remember riding in one with friends in the 60s, through Lincoln, I think four of us sat comfortably in the back seat.

Another one of those lovely old vintage vehicles,I wonder if our present day cars will get the same admiring glances in the future, as we give some of these old ones when we see them.

Quite striking cars arrived last night..even prompted yours truly to get presentable and go out for a closer look..fabulous, families were being photographed in front of them with great excitement and whathaveyou..they created a buzz.
The makes are clear but alas i didnt get the model types...but here are the pictures.
Loads of visitors passing through right now. Hotel looks full. These cars had vanished by dawn this morning probably motoring gently to Le Touquet or somewhere similar.
The white one is a Rolls Royce and the red one is a Wolseley. Gorgeous. As mentioned not sure of the models but lovely to look at. Ponders with headscratch...these would have looked good on the frontpage....
Ah those were the days...look at the picnic boxes etc..motoring in style.

Just noticed...the owner removed the Rolls Royce iconic mascot thingy off the top of the grill before going into the hotel.. and who can blame him. Its removed in pic 1, but you can see it while arriving in pic 2.

Many years ago I had a RR Silver Shadow II. The mascot was a pain to remove and replace but if you touched it when the engine was off it would sound the air horns.

The Rolls is a late Ghost about 1920 vintage, very rare indeed, the red one is a Wolseley Hornet, early 1930s.

Well done Peter again..you are definitely our resident expert...fascinating about the Silver Shadow II.
Ive heard about the Ghost but have never see one before in the flesh as it were. Glad I got some pictures if it is indeed a rare one.
Will continue to keep my eye out for exciting visitors.

Oh dear!! This motor vehicle wasnt going anywhere fast. Bits pulled out at both ends..wot a shocker! and on top of that we have the tradional British builders bum to warn off evil spirits..I initially thought of doing a close up, but for fear of outcry I thought better of it...lol

..not sure what kind of car it is.
But the best kind of car is one that works!

Saw three Italian vehicles towIng a number of rowing boats into the Port yesterday. Each vehicle had the Italian flag and Olympic rings on. The boats had the Olympic rings. I suspect they are returning hOme to practice for Rio.

lol!!

clearly it was only a builders bum in the making in 72...with room to grow
Sounds good Helen, we will have to furnish you with a camera in order to get all the hot shots.
No builders bum this time ( see below ) but clearly another vehicle going nowhere fast...what was slightly odd about this was that the guy came in from the main road pushing the car...but didnt push it to the side of the road as you would 100% expect. No, he kept right on going up the very centre of the seafront road...
What became of him well Gawd knows...he is probably still going somewhere...

It's either a Triumph GT6 which has had an aftermarket conversion to a soft top, or it's a Spitfire fitted with a GT6 bonnet. Triumph always refused to make a convertible version of the six-cylinder car so this one isn't a factory original.
On closer inspection, it's definitely a modified Spitfire 1500 from the 1978 model year, but with a GT6 bonnet bulge added to it.
