Great stuff!
As you would imagine its been a great weekend for vistors passing through, despite the awful weather. On friday up and down the seafront there were several exotic cars of the Bentley variety..staying at both major hotels. One assumes they were off to a rally somewhere...but take a look at these two..beautiful hardware..
Now...I am far from an expert so relying on doverforum teamsters to name what they are. And even if we cant, well they are lovely to look at. All had Bentley Club membership badges, some of the cars passing through were modern Bentleys. But arent they all gorgeous.

Great cars indeed Paul and the owners must have lots of money as those cars are not cheap to buy/own, so they would have had money to spend - but we must give them a Town Centre that they will want to spend their money in.
It's a pity not more can be done to organise a rally of some sort for all the cars - so people would know in advance and be able to come down and look at them - like they did a couple of years ago with those Rolls Royces.

Yes great cars above indeed...imagine blasting down the Mulsanne Straight in that top one, leather helmet, scarf blowing in the wind. The Rolls Royce weekend was indeed a blinding success Roger. Thousands and thousands of visitors. A positive lessen could have been learnt there for an ongoing festival of exotic cars.

Change the record boys . I was in Canterbury yesterday several shops have closed down Last night I attended the selection for the Kent Court Queen .the organiser was saying how much it costs for the running of the court .Money is tight no matter what you do or where you go .
A few people try to raise the profile of Dover so stop knocking or rocking the boat

i thought there were some bentleys outside premier inn about a week ago, didn't paul post some photos then?
like the idea of a vintage car display, the promenade would be ideal.

I notice that number 10 Worthington Street is for rent at £10,000 per annum.
A snip?

As I have mentioned, a thriving retail business near me recently closed it's doors (the doors are still closed) citing an 'unreasonable' hike in rent and an intransigent landlord who would not listen to reason.
Such businesses, like all business and households, must make ends meet (for businesses this means make a profit). Many within the concerned but uninvolved public cry out for something to be done to increase the high street spend and this is certainly one of those 'ends' that wont meet, but what of the other end?
The other end that does not seem just to wander off, but strides defiantly off, with no regard to any 'meeting' of ends or compromise of any sort. Why is it better for a landlord to have his premises stand empty?
What would happen if a local authority was to raise the rates on empty retail premises?

a problem everywhere tom, pubs seem to be the main target for elite greedy landlords.
in many cases they just convert them into flats which is logical but many are just closed and no revenue comes in, we have one here.

I love this little blue number, I could just jump in there right now and cruise along the coast of France towards Le Touquet, if only .................

Shame though, that the weather is not so good

I want one of those pimped up red tractors that's in the tv ad for 32red casino website -
My sister and her beau passed through yesterday taking their sooper dooper camper van cum mobile palace to Brittany. I was hoping to have a guided tour around it but the only thing it hasn't got is a parking space suitable for an HGV - so they parked out of town, unloaded the Smart car from the back and drove to see us in that.

There seems to have been a steady stream of old cars around there last few days, saw more on the way to work this morning, and the top ones we saw last friday outside the Hotel, as for nice little blue number looking at it its very similar looking but I don't think it is a morgan.
But I would still certainly have garage room for it so come on PaulB i'm waiting with the garage door open

#34, it's a Caterham Seven RoadSport with a few minor custom jobs on it.
#21, top one is a most famous car, a 1929 6 1/2 litre Blower Bentley.

Thanks Peter, great stuff with the info there.
lol! Howard

that made me larf so it did.
...that garage door will have to wait a while longer Jan

or you could try one of these.
Yes indeed the humble little ever-so-cute Austin Seven...twice. These two are off to a Euro Rally.
So sayeth the red badge.
These things are truly tiny. There is a couple sitting in the yellow car, if you look closely you can see them. They are squeezed in so tight that even sardines have more room. Not for the claustrophobic...but jolly good fun!
