Typical of the kind of left wing bigotry and ignorance we so frequently see.

we get bigotry and ignorance in equal measures from right and left here barry.
worth noting that most members decline to comment when it occurs.
rational debate free of dated party politics gets many more responses.

The cartoon in post 39 does give a description of the fatcats, so surely it's time Gov. UK comes to decisive grips and the final countdown with these greedy creatures.
We need social justice. For this a strong Government taking decisive measures is required.
The fatcats need to go on a diet, they've already gobbled a 1 trillion pound deficit into our Treasury and are gobbling our opportunities and wealth away. Stop 'em Gov!

Howard - an irrational post does not get a rational debate. You need a rational point to get a rational response...

I completely agree with Howard #42
I have learnt those it is worth debating with or replying to and those who are so blinkered in their views that there is no point. I now usually completely disregard their posts unless I have time to spare or am completely bored.

i kinow that back in the nineties training companies were paid a bonus of around 400 quid for each person that went into emplyment within a short time of leaving the course.
even a day delivering leaflets counted so they paid a bonus of 40-50 quid to anyone that could bring a letterhead or compliment slip from a bona fide company.

Topically just had a press release in from local LABOUR who bemoan the jobless situation..particularly so with youth unemployment. Have put the item on the frontpage with a link through to this thread so all our discussions should be read widely.
We have quotes from Labour Leader Gordon Cowan and Finance shadow cabinet member Mike Eddy...Mike says...
"The government has been raising taxes and cutting investment too far and too fast. And the Conservatives locally have been doing everything possible to back them with their extra stealth taxes on drivers and gardeners"
Well..there we are...
More on the frontpage.
Just to Add an Extra piece of info here....
"The numbers of young people claiming jobseekers allowance in the Dover and Deal constituency are 55 (in January 2011); 210 (in January 2012); an increase of 155 or 281.8%. "

Please forgive me for commenting here on what has just gone up on the front page rather than on the preceding pages of this thread...but...
What eye-watering weasel words from the Reds. Preaching to the choir. Are the population seen to have the attention span of goldfish? Where are the Union/Co-op funded training schemes?
It is little wonder that our nation and our economy are becalmed in such a 'Sargasso sea'* of inter-party-bickering while crew and cargo rot in idleness.
http://www.bermuda-triangle.org/html/sargasso_sea.htmlIgnorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

you're right tom, entrenched positions from both sides come into play whilst the unemployed suffer.
would be nice one day if people were put before party.

Ahhh sure party politics are as inevitable as the too-ing and fro-ing of the tide. But politics has a role to play...a big role to play in either job loss or job creation. We saw only last week the progress local politicians made on the Pfizer situation, some great work was done and is being done to secure jobs when all was near to lost. The Politicians involved there were... it must be said...Conservative. And with Conservatives being the party in power they had the ear of the Prime Minister...and were able to move and shake.
So if those Conservatives made a difference on last weeks topic...putting pressure on them to do something for youth employment is the right way to go for Labour.

agree paul but unemployment is used by both the major parties as a points scorer.
1979 "labour isn;t working" right through to the present day.
laura sandys has to be given credit for her efforts that were clearly meant for the right purpose, no accusation of point scoring there.
