Be real, BarryW. What about variable or hidden conditions - which covers a significant amount! And define "work"......and what about remissions etc. It is not as simple as you would like to think.

Bern, yes its not easy at all but the terms of incapacity are there and no doubt you are correct there may be the odd grey area. But we should welcome a proper application of the rules and as long as that is the case then fine. The correct debate should be about the rules and terms laid down by government for long term incapacity to which I made a contribution earlier.

atos are paid to get results by turning down claims, they would not get and keep the contract otherwise.
they argue that if someone is fit enough to attend the interview they are fit to work.
if they fail to attend their claim is stopped.
Exactly. That is the point. This is a case where PbR really isn't appropriate.

I think you are reading too much left wing propaganda Howard. But we will see... If they have not been handling thing properly and there are court cases then all will come out in the wash.

i quoted it from the telegraph some time ago barry.
back to unemployment 20 odd jobs going in a new tesco express deal, nearly 300 applicants.
no doubt the failed applicants will still be derided as bone idle.

Your problem Reg is that you are only too keen to spend other people's money without regard to the effect that has on the economy. You help no-one by dolling out high levels of benefits and bankrupting the country. If caring is about destroying businesses, jobs and wealth creation then you can keep that kind of caring where the sun does not shine.

well BERN makes some valid points on how the net closes and some get caught up in it.
HOWARD also makes a point on an interview process which is of interest.
but never the less there is aneed to sort out the benefits system
but in a fair way

I think that cartoon is sick. I understand the message it is trying to get across, but I really think it is (to me) a reminder of all the jews queueing up for the Nazi gas-chambers.
Do you think the fat-cats eating the remains of the unempoyed is in good taste Reg ?
I don't.
