surely saving on a chief constables salary, expenses, chaffeur, office space et al would make a sheriff idea practical?
would like to see some projected figures on it though.

has it been costed though barry?
sometimes what appears a good idea is not so, when all the figures are put together.
So all we are talking about is changing the job title from Chief Constable to Sherriff? Trouble with that also is CP's are career coppers, Sherriffs will be local numpty and do-gooders. Give me a professional CP every time thanks.

i think that the idea of accountability appeals, i will look through the UKIP stuff and try to see the logistics.

Again Sid, talking about the Conservative policy, no that is not it. Sherrif, an old English title, was suggested as a title by that is not decided. Chief Constables are not directly elected now, they are not in charge of the prosecution service either and they report to Police Committees made up of appointed Councillors. Conservative policy is totally different and replaces that structure.
I am sure some numpty do gooders might want the job but do you think the electorate are stupid enough to elect them? If they are then they deserve what they get! I suspect this would be something that would appeal to retired senior coppers.

vic
they do have contract cleaners that come in and do the public areas, though the residents do a good job at personalising the shared landings.

Thank you for that Howard, they just look so nice and homely and comfortable, and I was asked about my leg and how I was doing, but after doing up and down all morning must say it was done with a cost,I have had to go for a xray and told to take it easy. Thank you Vic Matcham

Vic, you've been told to rest that leg. The canvassing can wait; obey your doctor's orders or you will end up crippled. Have some sense.

True friends stab you in the front.

Sid, you are being contradictory again,my old friend. Many of your postings cost money that the local economy can't afford. I'd like just to spend time on the economy that is what currently consumes 75% of my time as Leader. Your wish lists are contrary to us dealing with the economy but spending money we don't have and could be provided by others without the verbage. Invariably we all want the same thing. It is he/she who is competent enough to identitfyand get thru.the systems that will deliver-if you have logical, reasoned case- results.
Whinging, using the heart not the head won't get you anywhere in our governmental systems. For one. the likes of you would challenge them.
Another reason why UKIP won't do it Vic.
Farage your Leader, yes I mean the real Leader , does the rant but can't do the rest.

Mr Watkins, Thank you so much for coming onto the UKIP post.
I only wish it was you standing this time, you are a much better talker on the old stage, but I have said that before ,that you stoped to soon, but that is good for me and UKIP.

And one more thing Mr Watkins,it is me standing in Dover not Mr Farage, and I have been round along time so all to play for. Lord Pearson is our leader but will say you are right about Mr Farage a much better talker.
