22:0577150We had a members meeting tonight and it was a very full house with standing room only and yes we will be standing at the next locals in May.
Over the next few week s I will be telling who and where we are standing(Or will I).
But we are very happy the way it is going at this time and you still join up with us.
My stand is stiill the same about the port "NO SELL OFF"
Our own MP is tell ing us we can buy what is ours already the Port, and if you go that way it will just be giving £10 a time away because you will not see any return for any amount you put in.

11:3579612Lets give the port arest and move on to next years locals,I did go to the meeting at the DDC last night but was very late, again what they do up at DDC on the Elections and trying to help any prospective councillor of any party is very good and not all councils do it so in that way we are very lucky.
I am now going to move on to UKIP Local Manifesto, and it will show you that UKIP is more than just trying to get out of the E.U.
Today ,local councils are weak and powerless. They are too often told what to do by central government.
UKIP believes in giving real democratic power and reresources to the local communities,to tackle like planning, crime,Social services, transport and education,This will show you how we believe UKIP can transform our local area, and at the same time as CUTTing Council tax in Half.
Local Taxes.
There is a problem,Council Tax has almost doubled in many areas over the past few years, hitting us all pensioners in particular. Most of the money is wasted on bureaucracy and politically correct Jobs.
Before I go on UKIP was the first party to get their Manifesto out to public at the last Gen/Election,and This is the only one I have seen on the local Election.
What is the solution ?
(1) Reorganise national and local taxes to slash council tax by 50%
(2) Return financial responsibility to councils by letting them keep local business rates.
(3)Cut the money wasted on politically-correct initiatives and appointments. I must say I think the blues are trying that.

12:1579620Sorry About that I pushed down two keys.
Local Democracy.
Most of this one I am 100%behind.
Local councils rely on government funding and obey government orders rather than listening to those who pay the council tax.
The new system of local government gives power to an "Executive cabinet"leaving out most of the elected councillors. And many functions of councils are being taken over by unelected regional bodies.
And we see all this at the DDC ,what I have said before it is the old old school tie net work on the Cabinet at the DDC, and there are some very good councillors of both partys not doing anything because they can not get in on the Cabinet, I AM ONE THAT SAYS THE Cabinet should go, and a full council should take over, with all councillors having their input.
UKIP goes on to say
(1) Create an English-only Parliament of English MPs sitting on English-only days at Westminster. That is a must I say.
(2)Dismantle regional government and return powets to traditional county and borough councils.
(3)Return control over local matters frim Whitehall to the Town hall.
(4)Letlocal people call a binding local referendum on any major local issue.
For me that is the BIG ONE the blues are trying to tell us that is what they are working on.And I say it sould be done on the sell of the port we in Dover should say if it goes or if it stays. BUT let me tell you that will never happen.
(5)Reform the "Cabinet"system and make councils transparent and accountable to the public.
And the last one Very Big one again.
CRIME
Still today we have more police officers today than before and after what we saw on the TVlast night we need them abnd they should not be cut back, and again we still see little visible of police presence on the streets ,again we saw at on the TV last night where were all the police?
Our police are still hamstrung by politically correct rules and form-filling,and they are ignoring low-level crime. And we see so much of that in our town of Dover. UKIP.SAY
(1)Reopen local magistrates"courts and police stations, and yes bring back police houses mainly in the parish" but I add to that what we are seeing is more courts closeing and police told not to take notice of low-level crime.
(2)Relieve our police of unnecessary paperwork, the blues will tell you that they are doing that, well time will tell on that one.
(3)Make police forces accountable to local, not regional or nationan, authorities.
and the last one and the main one.
(4)Ensure stricter sentencing and ZERO TOLERANCE OF ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AND PETTY CRIME.
Well thats about it only to say there will be a update of this manifesto over the next few weeks. Thank you for reading it.

20:0479690Mr Matcham, if you read Barry's blog about the Standards Board you'll see that was covered by a 2000 Act of Parliament which needs repealing, so until that happens if you get elected as a councillor in May you apparently won't be able to vote on any issue covered by your statements above. Oops.

20:1479693all deleted now vic, interesting stuff there most people would go along with most of it.
a couple of things i spotted, the first was about devolving powers, that is being done by the present government but denying them funding to carry them out.
the other one was about local referendums, this would open a can of worms. everybody has there own idea of what is a major issue. once the first referendum was called there would be a hue and cry from all special interest groups demanding the same.
not only would this be very costly but people are very unlikely to to turn out and vote, hard enough at a district council election.
