Damage to the railway caused by sea water means that trains cannot run from Dover Priory towards Folkestone Central. This is expected to continue until 16:00.Jan Higgins

The steps down to Shakespeare beach have been exposed right down to the bottom at recent times. So it seems a lot of shingle has been washed away.
It might be that the ballast has gone from behind the retaining wall down to the beach?

There must be concerns about the long term viability of the line between Dover and Folkestone, I cannot see Network Rail continually forking out just for a temporary solution each time.

Yet again Dover is left sucking the hind tit when resources are needed. Can our politicians please get their arses in gear and get central government funding for permanent repairs?
