AS we know Mr Cameron is currently astride the world stage. In immaculate suit he wows them all the way from California to Brasilia. Even when he dresses down now he is in cool black or navy. A bit better than in his early years when he always looked uncomfortably dorkie even when he tried to look cool..ermm cool in that cool sense as teenagers would know it. Okay so he doesnt know who wrote Rule Britannia but none of us know that one!
But what is noted most of all recently is his adoptation of a brilliant strategy..called the never-never-land option. It kicked into play first of all with regards to the new London Airport..when Mr Cameron said it wont be built before 2015 but after the next election in 2015 all bets are off and who knows..sort of..kinda. This same never-never-land strategy also applies to the European Union as of yesterday. 'Couldnt possibly have a referendum in this parliament but after 2015 we can give you one' said he. It seems there is a great Utopia waiting for us in 2016 or thereabouts.
Of course he is putting off today which he possibly wont never have to face tomorrow. If he loses the next election, a considerable possibility, then these things will never happen, but he will be seen in the shorter term to be a very positive PM, while at the same time able to accommodate or to appease the backbench doubters who long for it all to happen or not happen depending on which side of the divide one is.
There is a political term for all this...its called 'kicking the problems into the long grass' in the hope that they will all go away or wont have to be dealth with on your own watch.
Was it JFK who said 'never put off til tomorrow what you can do today'...not a quote for our Prime Minister. No not at all.
Camerons quote goes something like this...
" 'Always put off til tomorrow what you cant do today' as there is way too much aggravation right now particularly from my own side"
