Tuition Fees pledge by Cleggy in their manifesto was a mistake he regrets........so do
thousands of students, their parents and grand parents.
He promises not to make pledges in the future that he ``knows`` he cannot keep.....
...well that`s all right then...isn`t it...?
We can all vote for him with confidence at the next election.....while we still pay off
the dept...........

Good one Reg. Yes Ive seen this video with Clegg which Reg refers to above. The Libdems have made this shock apology on their tuition fees debacle as a party political broadcast to be used in conjunction with their Conference next week, but they liked it so much that they released it early. Now somebody on you tube or somewhere has added music do it , played tricks with it, and they showed it on the Daily Politic on BBC2 and everyone is now laughing at it. It gives the impression Clegg is singing the message. Oh dear! The Libdems just cant get anything right.
Political commentators believe that this approach by Clegg is a massive gamble. He wants your vote in future, he made a mistake, he is tearfully apologetic...but will it work?
In this ever cynical age I doubt it.
I'm afraid the only true route forward for Libdemism will be when they find a new leader.
The tuition fee issue was Cleggs Alamo !

i am surprised that he wants to carry on in politics at all, he has cut a sad figure over the last 2 and a half years playing the ventriloquist dummy to dave.
he has no credibility inside or outside his party, i am sure he would be much happier going back to what he did before.

Plans to solve elderly care crisis blocked by Treasury.
Osborne is blocking a Ministers approved ``Dilnot`` plan which safeguards the elderly
having to sell their homes to live out their lives with some dignity.

Jan, did it go anything like this...
Nick Clegg's Apology Song...
[first four lines spoken, al a Recitative, by way of into]
I'd like to take this opportunity to put a few things straight
we made a promise before the election that
we would vote against any rise in fees under any circumstances.
But that was a mistake
We should have made it clear to you
right from the very start
that talk is all that we can do
-but...because you're not that smart
you took it all to heart
your naivete tends to the absurd
we told you what you wished to hear
and you soaked-up every word
-and on this point let me be quite clear
we'll do the same again come election year
let's face it, there's nowhere else to turn
in UK politics there's no other way
pick Red or Blue and in Hell you'll burn
-I can't improve on what Buddy Holly had to say
Democracy? "That'll be the day!"

Well Tom, I've just enjoyed singing all of that out loud

I know the tune very well by now, who doesn't.
Clegg will never be trusted again by our students or their families, he made a right pig's ear of it all, it's time for him to go

That's right, Reg, we were all told the deficit would be eliminated through harsh austerity, but the deficit is there, and how! A lot of it caused through benefits being paid as a result of spending cuts and public sector lay-offs, as the private sector does not cater for the abundance in unemployment.
We've been subjected to a spin-off, and it's always someone else's fault: if it's not Gordon, than it's Brown, or vice-versa.
We're being sent from Pontius to Pilate.
The banks went bust, the State bailed the banks out, the State went bust, and the top bankers are always lining their pockets with gold and silver. Oh and don't touch their bonuses!

I feel we will soon see UKIP taking over from the LIB, and it is already happing in the UK, but also UKIP will hold the balance of power, even without one MP in the house. it might even bring me back into it all at Dover,I am thinking about it at this time, and standing again for your MP,I think the funding needed to do that can be found.

So old members of the committee standby again,At this time I am still a member and have the books..

Vic, it's hard to say how the LibDems are faring, their numbers are slippery, sometimes rated at 8%, more or less equal to UKIP, and sometimes rated at 17%, depending who made the poll.
I've got a half feeling they might split up into a Lib party and a Dem party, the latter going possibly with Labour.
UKIP recently saw a Lord Stevens - former Tory - in the house of peers cross over to UKIP, so your party may be edging slightly forwards on a percentage scale.
The Lib+Dems are hardly likely to go with the Tories again, but they are a slippery party.
UKIP has been campaigning lately to attract Labour supporters, using the in/out EU referendum as a ticket.
