I don't really know when they came to assess. I just had a phone call to say that they had been. In fact the bins were laying down. This was to prevent people putting rubbish in them. I had no chance to show were they would actually be placed. From the layout of the garden, in front of the windows is the only option.

Do you think that emailing the photo to the councilor who made the decision might help ? with a copy to the local paper .

At a councillor's request (not mine) I have done so.
To the councillor that is, not the paper.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
I have about 3 feet x6 feet of mud/hardstanding outside my house , the rest of the street has paved front gardens , ours has a hedge , and what you cant see from the road is it also contains 4 x 8o yearold Yucca plants complete with twisted root sysytems , so juggeling the bins is intresting to say the least

I wonder how much this farce is costing? And which pillock thought it up?
In Pete Seeger's world of little box's which all look the same it would be ok.

The thing is that people are not seeing the bigger picture here.
Under an EU directive councils have to reduce the amount of rubbish disposed of by way of landfill.
Of course we are powerless (because the UK government is now merely a parish council in terms of Europe) to do anything about this situation. So we signed up to this nonsense legislation quite readily without a fight and we now witness the results.
Of course this nonsense all boils down to one thing - climate change. Without this stuff and nonsense We wouldn't be littering our countryside with windfarms and our economy might be taking a different direction. Certainly our energy bills would be alot smaller.
However today more leaked emails have been posted up on the internet exposing the duplicity of supposed "climate scientists" and their attempts to cover up what really goes on in these secretive establishments and research centres and basically how they make all this global warming nonsense up as they go along.
Hopefully you should be reading about this tomorrow in the mainstream press, if that is there is any justice.
Again hopefully this will make climategate seem like a tea party.
To hell with the bins. You don't have to accept them. Just dump your rubbish in the tip at Whitfield or get a friend to do it.

i don't have a problem with recycling, i do have a problem with the size of the bins and the complicated way we have to sort everything.
i would be happy for one receptacle for general waste and one for recycling plus a caddy for food waste.
i will look out for the latest "climate scientists" expose with great interest.
Its a bit difficult to see any picture when you can't see over the wheelie bins

If you have a very small garden and don't want the wheelie bins - argue !

You shouldnt have too,Roger you may remember when I brought this up at Council and Cllr N.Kenton laughed at what I was saying, and said the Bin men and the Cllrs would decide who had the Wheelie bins.
Terry what makes you think someone came round? You were probably google-earthed if you were lucky or someone said I know where that is he has a front then turn it down.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

roger
please be assured that i will take the matter as far as it possible, the casual attitude i am experiencing so far makes it certain that i will not let the matter drop.
john
i think that is what happened, i am the only one without hardstanding at the front, that would not have shown up on google earth.

An observation.Do the houses photographed have rear gardens?
Mine isnt photographed Sue , but yes I have a rear garden which is only accesed by either :-
Going down 6 steps through 2 rooms and then up 4 steps , or
Going up 6 steps through the house down 13 steps ( which have a steep curve ) then up 4 steps , so not really a viable option

Would it be too much trouble to send a troubleshooter from DDC to each house that has a complaint? it should not take any time at all to see whether the complaint is justified and get the matter resolved, they will only have to do it once and it is their changes that have caused the problem after all!

It is a concern that some people will decide to dump rubbish illegally and not at the tip. That is always a risk when you start trying to impose something like this. Then the costs of enforcement rise as well. I do wonder what the stats will look like, another potential hidden cost of this madness.
