There is a certain amount of inconsistency with regard to where these bins go. The size of some front gardens simply cannot have them, but they are still delivered.
It was a massive project that had been going on for some time before it was introduced, but as with many large initiatives, there will be a settling-in period.
I did say on here a while ago, that if people in the Maxton, Elmsvale and Priory ward cannot have them through lack of space or practicality etc. then contact me or one of the other Councillors.
I have also asked if the rumours about charging at Whitfield tip are true.

As I understand it the Council used Google Earth rather than send people round to check,I suppose it is cheaper but.....It doesnt show you what is behind the door if people are old disabled or blind and cannot manage these hugh bins.
On the upside I have had someone contact me who wants a larger recycling bin rather than the small one they have been given that is the the first time that has happened although large parts of Tower Hamlets still havent got their bins.

It has been mentioned on another thread relating to wheelie bins that incidences of fly tipping will increase if a charge is made to use the tip at Whitfield. This is indeed the case. I suspect that those who thought up this scheme to litter the district with wheelie bins were clock watching on a Friday afternoon when they signed the deal and then off home before the rush hour kicked in.
It seems to me that this whole fiasco is a textbook case for students studying for a degree in stupid decisions in local government and will serve future local government decision makers well as a lesson in how not to do things.

Actually a couple of chaps from Veolia came and surveyed Castle St to see which properties could take wheelie bins.

Have had a kind of bad flu thing all week having had the flu injection the week before

but it looks like a good day to venture outdoors without fear of bumping into Howard with his camera at the ready now that he is barricaded indoors by those hefty bins taking pride of place on his footpath

But seriously why cant the chaps that came to see Castle Street use a little common sense on the many properties around Dover that just simply cannot accomodate these huge bins

I hope you are feeling better Colette? That flu-ey thing has hit a few of us hard. Some bugger climbed into my head with a buzz saw last week and while he was there decided to fill my sinuses with cement and my legs with lead. Wait till I catch him.......

Sounds like the same bugger that got me Bern, if I catch him first I'll tie him up and call you so we can both deal with him accordingly and it won't be pretty

Pleased you have recovered too although it does leave one feeling quite weak.
And don't the family know it......! Wait til I am better!!

there is a big sign in my doctor's surgery saying that the "flu" jab does not give anyone the flu.
they forget to mention the similar symptoms that colette and others get.

It is not fair is it Howard when you want people to steal your belongings (bins) they wont.Try putting a notice on them 'please do not steal' they will go overnight.By the way they cost £40 odd to replace.!

You are thinking of Bird flu Brian. Symptoms include inability to parallel park the car and having to sit down for a P.
