They told me that three weeks ago. Haven't heard anything yet. And they didn't empty my recycling bin this morning. Can't see anything in there that shouldn't be, still not too worried it will take me six months to fill it anyway.

After complaining about the bins about three weeks ago I was finally assessed today. The upshot is that I must keep them. They will not issue me with purple bags. I only have a small window on the ground floor at the front and they block out the light.
Paul Jaconelli frpm DDC phoned me just now to give me the news. After some discussion he agreed to take the large bins away and I will deal with the general rubbish myself. The small food bin I shall keep.
He also agreed that I could continue to use the blue bag and black box. I just hope the binmen are aware of this.
Not the result I wanted.

having the same problem, what do we do with our rubbish in the meantime?
if i start putting it in the bins it will be seen as accepting them, if i put my rubbish in bags they will not take them.

Pining over Howard, they turned up this afternoon

now the fun starts! Can't see anything in the pack that says which bin for carrier bags? My wife is on about buying numbers to stick on showing the house number, a brush and some paint would have done for me!

I am still waiting for mine, the council said they were due to be delivered at the start of last week.

Carruthers has been placing the rubbish in 'white' bin sacks within said bin and it's not been emptied, could this be that it should be in 'black' sacks within said bin (the rubbish is in the bin what does it matter what colour bags as you can't see them) Puzzled

A bit of a continuation from post number 42 here.
When talking to Paul Jaconelli at DDC he said that the decision not to allow me purple bags instead of the bins was that of his "leader". I asked if he meant the Council Leader, i.e. Paul Watkins but he said no, it was the Portfolio Holder Nicholas Kenyon.
My ground floor has three rooms. At the front is the dining room, in the middle the kitchen with a utility room at the back. As with all such Victorian houses the front window at the bottom is very small.
Just look at my view when I sit down to eat. Mr Kenyon thinks this is acceptable. I bloody well don't.

that looks absolutely chronic, i thought it was bad enough to have to walk sideways to get out of my house at least i do not have to sit and look at them.
people are up in arms locally some refusing to use them at all, the story has a long way to go.

You're right, that's not acceptable. No reasonable person could say that was acceptable. I emailed the council about the same time as you, and still awaiting my reasessment.

I agree it's not acceptable. Those curtains certainly do not match the wall decoration. I'd go for something more neutral.
I'm joking of course.
It's getting to a point now where this greenie nonsense is really impacting on people's lives in the most minute detail.
It's one thing having to hand over hundreds of millions in order to subsidise windmills or solar panels both of which are a complete waste of money but when it's impossible to walk down a street without being faced with these stupid dustbins it borders on total and utter madness.

probably o.k for mr kenton he lives on a farm, hardly likely to have his windows obstructed.

Terry, surely your right to light would be a factor, the situation you are in is totally unacceptable.

The problem is of course that the tiny front garden is higher than the ground floor. I tried moving them about but wherever they are they remain in full view. I've laid them down to lessen the impact, it also stops passers by using them.

I have not touched my bins since shoving them to one side out of the way nearly two weeks ago and I am carrying on as normal such as I can.
I do recycle paper for which I have used the green bag as the blue one disappeared and that was taken OK. All the rest is in general rubbish which was left this week but was taken the previous week, so it looks like I will just have to put up with a two weekly collection or do a tip run each week.
This really is an appalling system they are trying to impose on us.

just met red gordon in town, naturally i let off steam over the bins.
he pointed out that as i had a flower bed/border then i was entitled to the purple bag regime.
looking at the post from barry above i wonder how many people will dump their rubbish somewhere rather than wait for a fortnightly collection.
Thats just not acceptable Terry , Did any one actually look at the windows when they came round to reassess you ?
