Just to say I was saying this about the park about 5 to 6years ago even longer, and have not given up on it nor will I.AS I said I am not talking about taking even 50% of the park around about 20 to 25% and the other 75% woul;d be the best park in East Kent. Some say there is not room for that kind of house,I am not talking about many,in post 143 I was talking about a site in the sevenoakes car park ,the site I was on had about 3 or 4 of the kind of house I am talking about, beween them the totel amount they are worth,is over £30million yes £30million just for a few top class homes. And you are trying to tell me the same can not be done at the park or the Western Highs By the way the houses at that site I was on were sold before they were build.

Big difference Vic is that the average house price in Sevenoaks is £436,774 and Dover is £181,134 - I can guarantee no matter what quality house could be built at Connaught Park no-one is going to spend millions on one there !!

Connaught Park is in Castle Ward, which if I remember rightly is statistically one of the most deprived wards in the district if not county, not a great marketing tool!
Can't say I completely disagree with what Vic is saying though, there is a shortage of that type of housing in Dover.
However, those sort of houses existed around the Park Avenue area until they were largely turned into flats as they were unmarketable as large houses.

Programme of Events from the 50th anniversary of the opening of the park in 1883 - Dancing from various schools, piping by the Gordon Boys, bands of the Buffs and Highland Light Infantry, evening dancing to music and a grand finale of fireworks by the J Wells & Son pyrotechnists to the Henly Regatta
Sounds amazing

I know it is still in use but you could get two in the old pumping house, just across the rd from the park.

There must be alot out there that are in agreement with myself, look how many are viewing in.

I only need four that have 10 million or over and that would make my plan work ,this forum goes out all around the world,so you never know what might come out of the woodwork.

It might look like I am joking but take it from me I am not.

If I had 10 million to spend on a house, as much as I love Dover and it's history I certainly wouldn't spend it living in connaught park

You do not know what you would do with £10million till you get it,life takes on a new look then, and what is around you.

I disagree Vic, I know exactly what I would do with £10 million no problem at all.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Vic, Connaught Park is a green area, it's not in the housing development zone of the core strategy.
It's nothing to do with having £10 or £30 million.

That's not always the case Alexander, if a proposed development is deemed to be such a benefit, then it will be allowed, but it has to be quite exceptional.
The Planning officers put the recommendation, but it is the Planning Committe members who make that decision and sometimes brave decisions have to be made.
