Or maybe they are already busy volunteering in other areas?

Those who shout the loudest are usually those who are armchair critics and do sweet f. all to help anyone.

Correct Jan.
By the way, I was in the park early this morning, it seems fine to me. I wonder why the metal guard is in the pond though?

Well Paul, im involved in my community, and a number of others, and have to say I have limited time to give to any new projects,
I know a number of posters also have involvement in a number of community projects
or even work!!
im not sure paul where your argument(discussion) was aimed?

Aimed at the vast majority of the residents of Dover (or maybe the country), not anyone in particular !

Some very interesting posts since I last logged on
#47 Thank's for your feedback PaulW, very relieved to hear that any talk of housing development for Connaught Park is absolute rubbish
#54 Andy, although unlikely as you say, that English Landscapes would commit to a grace and favour assignment, your idea of Castle Forum taking it on is a good one, if of course they could be persuaded to do so, it is in their catchment area. I must confess I haven't heard of them, do you have any contact details as I would like to get involved.
#56 Of course as Howard says, all would have to be passed with DDC with an agreement from English Landscapes.

THE only way to save and get the park great again is doing it the way I said, and the builders will pay for the park to be done up,think outside the box, better to have a smaller park looking good then how it is now,the council like the rest of us are short of cash so you have to make funding before anything major can get done.It would be nice to see the park back to what it was ,But it is not NO1 that needs to be done in Dover when times are hard.

Vic, how many people in Dover support your plans for Connaught Park? Probably no-one!
That should sort the question out then.

took a walk down earlier to see for myself some lovely autumn colours but there was an unkempt feel to the park.

i was surprised to see the toilets open and relatively clean for a public park.
some professional repairs needed, certainly not volunteer work.
the tennis courts looked in fairly good nick, the nets didn't though. the gate is always open sending an invitation for kids to play a football match on them.

Good pictures Howard, the black and white dog is mine! I saw you in the distance but didn't get the chance to say hello.
