I was interested in your item about the railings which are to be replaced in Ennismore Gardens. The tragedy is that so many of London's railings were pulled down in order to support Britain's war effort, bearing in mind that they never became the guns and tanks they were intended for.
In fact I believe that many hundreds of tons of scrap iron and ornamental railings were sent to the bottom in the Thames Estuary because Britain was unable to process this ironwork into weapons of war.

I submitted some designs to Darran Solley and the good news is that we have secured plants from DDC for the five circles of flower beds on the lower level of the park just as you enter from the main entrance. As soon as the weather picks up and the time to start planting is upon us then it's all systems go! I have accumulated a small bank of volunteers but if anyone here would like to add their name to the list then please do email me on barco1@btinternet.com. and as and when you can come along to help it will be greatly appreciated.
I went along to the recent meeting at Castle Forum and I have their full support. Just sorting out the necessary insurance with DTC at present and working towards some funding for painting and making good the benches in the same area as the flower circle beds.
Lots more talking and 'meeting up' to do in the coming weeks, will keep you posted of any further developments.
Connaught Park has been looking splendid in the last few days with all the snow we have had. Lots of children not to mention adults having lots of fun sledging in the snow. Thought you may like to see some pix, so here they are.

Yes Howard, it certainly does look good in it's frozen state. Fifi, our dog, tried to jump on it but we just managed to catch her in the nick of time when another rather large dog pounced right on it and went down but thankfully the owners rescued her before she got stuck
