- 7 March 2012 16:30157964Despite spending nearly five times as much money as anyone else Mitt Romney still hasnt sealed it. On the face of it he should have romped home by now, he has the money, he has the looks, he has the style.. but he still isnt resonating with the wider Republican voter. He is too moderate, too middle of the road they say.
Nobody is pulling out at this time either which is unheard of at this stage as far as I remember. Mormon Santorum is doing better than expected. Several times he looked dead and buried but bounced back each time and he is still winning states. Romney won 5 states last night Santorum 3 Gingrich 1..his home state. Super tuesday usually seals it for the obvious nominee but not this time...it is to drag on. Romney sticks to the positive note during speeches but he must be struggling to stay smiling inside as he continues to haemorrage money to maintain position.

Yes he is very much an Osmond..as several candidates and the president have tried their hands at singing during the campaign, the president being quite good at it, anything is possible with Santorum. It is rather extraordinary how he is doing so well and its a funny old world. Young godfearing Christian of the extreme right, Rick Santorum, quit in homespun style last night and left the path clear now for tax evader Mitt Romney to win through.

Santorum surprised many in the campaign, not a lot was expected of him but despite having a meagre budget in relation to Mitt Romney he put up quite a fight, and pulled off a considerable surprise. It wasnt enough in the end though.. so Rick has quit at the opportune moment, or in other words he has 'quit while the quttin's good'
He didnt want to totally alienate the Republican Party by going on toooo long.
This leaves Mitt Romney who now is almost certainly to be the chosen one. Mitt is/was essentially the last man standing or almost, so is destined now to challenge the Democrat Barack Obama for the White House.
Polls show Mr Obama well ahead at this moment, frankly right now he looks impregnable.. squeekily nice Mitt might have a big fight on his hands, he is not right wing enough for the right wingers, he is not left wing enough for the left wingers, his tax return situation didnt play well with the guy in the street...so it will be an uphill climb for Mormon Mitt Romney.
