Another major acquisition is in the process of being secured for site assembly.
I would expect that developers architects will follow up with more formal plans & final legal agreements between the Council & developer could be concluded if lawyers don't get in the way.

So with a bit of luck things are on the move but how long before any building work starts, 5 or 10 or 20 or even another 30 years.
I would bet most of us on the forum will believe the promises when they actually happen.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

"In the process"
"Would expect"
"Follow up"
"If lawyers dont get in the way"
Typical politicians words from the people spending taxpayers money.
Paul W, this is not meant to be a personal attack, I'm grateful for you coming on here in an attempt to keep us informed. But come on, this is shambolic.
I have been given to understand the Asda regeneration project on this MFI/St James site.....which was running on for a long time...I mean years....
Fell through, because of a disagreement over parking.....Asda wanted to give their customers free parking...ie....like the Morrisons site...
However, the Dover DC disagreed and everything fell through
The clever political spinners who are on this forum could give clarity on this please....
Thus who is doing this next hopeful years down the line project

Charlie, parking was part of the issue. The major dispute was downsizing the project and an unacceptable shed that was to replace a scheme that was marginal in design in the first place.
Morrisons & failure to meet targets in Folkestone added to the picture.
Car parking was for Dover residents to shop in the Town Centre other than ASDA, who wanted to control length of stay denying the rest of the Town benefit of custom, the original reason for the scheme.
This has been written up many times on the Forum.

Plus Asda must have known the Netto situation long before the public knew about it so chances are they strung DDC along??
Been nice knowing you :)

Well it certainly made it difficult/impossible for any other anchor tenant to be approached/lined up and the whole scheme was predicated on having a significant magnet/anchor tenant

Thank you Watty......
You have been with Dover District Council a long, long time...and you have to see and accept that Dover is being left behind.....shockingly so now....
Asda are very good at their sheds, the same as Tescos and their quasi "churches"..............
You know you could side- line the Port............and why not? it is really a simmering boil............Retail parks etc...are going be a lost cause......the internet shopping....go for entertainment/parks/open spaces/history and quaintness...........the later, very important...a whole Roman Town, purposely buried under York Street........again for the Port.....
We seriously need help and imagination.....something completely different, uncorrupted by backhanders and the like.........otherwise we will be what is fast happening.............a has been....could have been..... sad backwater on the front line

where all roads lead out of.....

All needs money and DDC doesn't have it sat there - it needs commercial money and you can't make companies invest if they don't want to.....

I thought I'd bring this back up a year after the last post. I'll let others comment on progress made.

Used to buy paraffin here for the office heater. Somewhat cold it was in winter.

I suspect that even, in the unlikely event, that global super giants such as Apple, Microsoft or Intel had plans to move into the area it would be met with the local council telling them "No we have already regenerated the area - look we've got a giant telly".

As taxpayers and local people we have right to know whats going on, if you've got 10 minutes read the thread then judge for yourself if the powers that be have kept to their word.
This is very important, the whole future of Dover rests on investment and regeneration

Papers the other day reported that CPOs are in progress for other areas - all part of the enabling works and steps in the right direction as far as I can concerned....
