I suppose there could be free parking for up to say 4 hours and a daily charge for longer which would mean town centre workers couldn't park all day for free.

The Planners at DDC have done all they can to facilitate this development, land-ownership has been a major factor in delays - and ASDA too of course.
Things are moving apace, but as PaulW has said, while negotiation are underway, it would be folly to say too much; many things are compromised (including contracts) with loose talk.
I can understand people's cynicism, but it is moving ahead.

I'm glad you understand people's cynicism Roger because last week you accused me of being negative.

After my comments re the DTIZ site and Dresden I searched through the archives for threads on the MFI site development - amazing that it is 4 years since it was first discussed, and was probably the catalyst that got David involved in politics.

I was in town today and thought I'd take a few pics, starting with the old MFI site. The artwork on the hoardings is brilliant, but I was intrigued by the notice on the hoardings where the footpath is closed off on the corner - I think it says 'Don't try to come and read this notice as you'll likely get run over.'

I am surprised that footpath has been closed, was it really necessary or simply to make it easier for the workmen when they come out to play at being builders.

Don't know Jan, I wasn't going to risk life and limb getting close enough to read the notice!

I think you've photographed the Cinema site Ray.
Jenners are progressing well on the rest of the MFI site.
