No need to draw conclusions, short, succinct and accurate.
As ever happy to chat.

Thank you.
As I asked yesterday, you reported last year the bore holes have been drilled, what happens next and when?

I presume the developer is in the process of dealing with the hotel chain -not Travel Lodge, those with an eye to the business pages will know their financial history. From there I would expect they will be dealing with construction firms and getting prices and build timetables.
Have nothing more to add , so won't speculate or respond further. I'll refer you back to my original post.

Do you mean your original post today or the one from 2011?
It seems you've washed your hands of it all Paul, leaving it to the developers.
That's fine, as you and I and others have discussed, its about communication.

You've going around in circles again.

Paul, with respect theres only one of us going round in circles. You've been "bigging up" the DTIZ for years, now you're muttering about developers and refusing to answer reasonable questions.
I'll leave it there until or unless further information is forthcoming.

Nothing to say could mean nothing happening or hopefully nothing to report, I assume the wheels are still turning even if they are at a snails pace.

Yes I agree times are hard for all of us and that means councils aswell if we see it moving even at a snails pace would be most wecome,I think it is time to get off Mr Watkins back and the DDC for the time being and see what turns up over this year.
I must be geting old.

After 3 years, thought I'd resurrect this thread. Progress anyone? Comment from DDC? Timetable for Archeological investigation, digging footings etc?

The old MFI site will be residential and should start later this year. No point in saying exactly when - because I don't know exactly when and if I did know, I wouldn't be believed would I ?

The DTIZ map with the cinema site on it suggests that the are additional buildings on it at the corner of Castle Street.
It that the residential you mean? Otherwise it's all cinema.

3 years and nothing has started or even looks like starting no wonder the buddleia was so large this summer and Roger wonders why we are cynical.

The fact that there has been no archaeologists on site has always puzzled me. There are 2 big derelict sites - MFI and the ex- bus station - that could have been dug. Presumably some time in the future the whole site will have to be dug and that will be a further delay.
Also Channel 4's Time Team has now been cancelled and there would have been a perfect opportunity for some publicity and free investigation,

'Some of the people who are delaying progress are the landowners who are saying no to their piece of land being bought - a CPO takes longer than a straight forward sale.'
There's an interesting post on this subject from June 2008.

i am still not certain what buildings the are being served with cpo's unless i have missed it.
my understanding is that one company owns bh, the multi storey car park and that stretch containing the former curry house and the exchange bureau.

I'm sure that DDC know who they need to deal with, quote in post #457 is over five and a half years old, saying how long a CPO can take. Its a shame that they didn't start back on 2008 if they were aware of the delay back then. Perhaps another five year delay is on the cards ?

Always worth bringing this back up to the top if you fancy some gallows humour.
Little did I know when I started this thread 3 years ago what a mess DDC have made of things.
£8.5m and counting, Charlie blames DDC, DDC blame the developers, Cllr Walkden blames the petition, still not a brick laid.
What a bunch of clowns we have governing us.
