1/ IDS did indeed say he could live on £53/week. What sum is necessary, and what if that is arbitrarily reduced by 14%?

2/ I do not doubt that many in employment (with and without benefits) are taking home less, but it a lesser amount than the something, not less of the never enough. [Speaking as you do, is the same as saying that he who loses a finger is the same as he who loses a thumb.]
DURRRRRR!!!!! SO YOUR PRIORITY IS FOR THOSE ON BENEFITS REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE PEOPLE WHO FUND THOSE BENEFITS HAVE FACED. THAT'S YOUR VALUES NOT MINE. YOU THINK THOSE ON BENEFITS, BOTH THOSE FOR WHOM THEY ARE JUSTIFIED AND THE SCROUNGERS ALIKE YOU THINK SHOULD BE MORE PRIVILEGED THAN PEOPLE WHO WORK.
3/ Swapping one in full time work for two or three on zero+ hours is a falsity. i.e. Lies, damn lies...and statistics.
ANY WORK IS BETTER THAN NO WORK. BESIDES THE FIGURES SHOW A LOT OF FULL TIME JOBS, NOT JUST PART-TIME, HAVE BEEN CREATED. I REPEAT, MORE NEEDS TO BE DONE ON THIS FRONT, ALL THINGS THAT YOU WOULD DISAPPROVE OF.
4/ What benefit is a room that you do not use? What benefit is it to lose a room you have a use for? (see #94)
THEY COULD RENT IT OUT - EVER HEARD OF 'RENT A ROOM' I KNOW SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO DO THIS AND GET A BIT OF TAX FREE INCOME AS A RESULT. THIS WHOLE ARGUMENT IS POINTLESS ANYWAY, IT IS JUST A STICK TO TRY TO JUSTIFY EXCESSIVE BENEFIT PAYMENTS.

This is a chosen way of life, chosen by the Government.
The Government wants us - Society - to accept this as normal, inevitable, and doesn't want Society to change the situation to the better. Which means anyone who wants to change the situation cannot do so, as the Government will not allow it.
The Government wants all policies to be imposed in Parliament on the grounds that it was elected.
But the Gov. also employs non-elected advisers, one of whom has recently resigned from 10 Downing Street:

Economic policies have failed, there is no economic growth but only decline.
Common-sense policies will probably come about when the world situation has further deteriorated to the extent that there is no other choice but to abandon State-imposed unemployment and to abandon a failed budget system and a failed banking system.
That will happen when people grasp that we need to be producing at home, in our own Country, whatever we can, in order to eat, clothe ourselves, and have access to essential products that needn't be imported. We should only import what we have to.

Is there anything more misemployed than language?
Is 'work' a privilege? It is my understanding, gleaned throughout our years of intercourse, that you do hold that work is a privilege;except when it suits you to say otherwise.
Many of those within the amorphous group you term, "people who fund those benefits" [not counting those who have themselves funded, but are now in receipt] who have taken their 'hit', have done so in order to stay in employment. (Although quite why they do this must remain a mystery, if what you say holds water and they could find themselves more privileged on the scrap-heap.)
Times are tough, but why should this lead us to being 'simplistic'.
