Roger, you write: "but only because we have allowed it to become one - as parents, as society and as politicians."
The world as you describe it here, referring to the 22% youth unemployment in Britain, can also be extended to the 67% youth unemployment in Greece.
Gosh, it was 60% a few months back, and 50% a year ago, in Greece.
Before that it was at 40%, and previously 30%...
Or take Spain's 60% youth unemployment. It had been a lot lower, but rises continually.
Or take Ireland, or one of many other countries.
Politicians have failed, but don't want the situation to change.
Politicians drive people into despair, probably because they receive a wage to live off and it doesn't hit them personally.
There is no point arguing anymore, and my impression is that of blatant sabotage.
Let's face the facts, Roger, politicians don't want change, what they want is a political system.
You may find indeed, that the day will come when young people currently unemployed will be working and planting every available patch of land with food, and the Government rationing food and making sure everyone does their part.
When this merry system has reached its merry-go-round conclusion and reality catches up.
