Nope nothing to do with me :-)
Did ask Enterprise about it, but they would only sell the freehold if I was prepared to buy a significant number of their other premises as well - greedy b'stards

Only 2 ales, Guinness and 4 examples of toxic waste, what a shame.

Obviously not going to be a proper real ale pub.

i am sure the new owner has done his/her homework and is aiming at a particular market, real ale on draught is almost everywhere now so another pub serving it is unlikely to attract much business.

I was thinking of the more unusual real ales not the run of the mill stuff you can buy in any of the chain pubs.

doubt if that is what the new proprietor is looking at jan, mark and his fellow micropub owners do that and make a point of eschewing fizzy lagers, jukeboxes and the like.
the golden lion seems to be going for a younger element with their choice of drinks, pool tables, jukebox and entertainment on offer.

peter, one of those toxic waste beers you mention is brewed the same way as your real ales, and it starts with an S and ends with an A.

It might be brewed the same way Brian but it still tastes like toxic waste

Belgian Stella for the continental market is brewed correctly in Louvain (Leuven), a suburb of Brussels. Stella for the UK market is brewed in South Wales and is a different drink altogether. I have proved this several times in blind tastings, comparing bottles from UK and Belgium.

always best to drink the local beer wherever you are, australians always complain about fosters or swan here but it would be different to the beer sold back at home.

I saw that notice yesterday as we passed in the car - also saw Howard loitering with intent; intent I guess, to take a photo and put it on here.
Did you venture inside Howard ? Purely for research purposes of course.

A sign pleading for customers would put me off completely but one with some special offer just might tempt new customers to give the place a go.

I wouldn't be surprised if the colour of the building puts a lot of people off - too garish. Looks the sort of place that would attract "loud" people.
