I knew nothing of it, and went to look. I can see that you are closely, or were closely, involved, but I was not shy in pointing that out.
If one had to wait until the precise answer to one's query was forthcoming before one's post was responded to one could wait and wait, this way at least interest is maintained.

Thanks Tom, as I said in the beginning, if anyone has any news about the GL then I would love to hear it.

Popped my head, inside, it's open door this morning to have a female nosey
Met a very nice (Polish/he he) workman, very busy, indeed.
He assured me, it is going to be open as a pub, in a few weeks.
No knowledge of the owners etc. However, I am sure some of the more investigative of you, will come up with something

Many thanks Christine, seems that the GL may yet come back to life. Like many of you I am sure, I would rather see a pub open then close, so here's to the GL, maybe the White Horse will be next?

I hear a rumour that a well known local restaurateur is looking at the White Horse

David, I have heard this too, let's hope so, as the WH needs to be in the hands of someone who knows the trade and has the capital to drive the house forward.

always seemed to be doing a roaring trade when rab was in charge, viability depends a lot on what the landlord charges for rent.

This all sounds very promising. I hope the White Horse rumours are true. I wonder whether Enterprise Inns could be persuaded to sell the freehold? I have always loved that pub and it is ideally located for Vicoria Park.

I very much doubt it Brian, knowing who is likely to take it over.

Can those who haven't got inside information be given a clue as to the identity of this mysterious local restaurateur ?

Well there has been mention of a name on Facebook about the restaurateur who has apparently denied it !
Been nice knowing you :)
