even anne edwards is careful not to respond to your comments on here.

02:5672893The political parties do seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel. Judging purely from appearances, Ed Miliband looks a complete dork and even his physical movements seem uncoordinated. Forrest Gump comes to mind and a Google shows that David Miliband's supporters indeed used this comparison. Time will tell as to whether he proves to be an inspired choice but superficially he looks like a gift to Blue Barry and the Condems.

07:2872897ED CONNELL;
To be fair you have posted on your anti Labour belief and that's fine.
Looking at it from an unbiased point of view yesterday had some interesting points.
ED did clearly set out his direction, some points will be interesting for the future.
His position on IRAQ it will be interesting to know why he feels that decision was wrong, and what he would have done differently.
If he meant we should have got more support before going out there thats interesting.
But if he means we shouldn't have gone at all, I wonder how he felt(or if he felt) we should have dealt with Saddam hussien?
For the first time at this conference that gained a re action from from David Milliband who was clearly not happy with H Harman who was applauding ED on this, yet supported the party whenit decided to go the route it did in Iraq.
That issue could make David's mind up on whether to stay, i dopn't think he will, he won't want to be in the shadow of ED or have the continued comparisons between the two brothers.
It looks like Ed's not frightened to take on the Issues and this realy is good for politics a new progressive party.
I'm looking forward to how all this is unwrapped as the 17 months passes

07:4872900To be fair to new leader Ed...it is very hard to make an exciting speech at a conference. As they said on the TV there, the great art of speechmaking seems to have been lost. One of the victims of the television age I guess. Its now all about gazing into the camera as per Nick Clegg, which can be very successful of course in its own way. However at conference a barnstormer tablethumper of a speech would be a good rallying call...if anyone could do it anymore.
Also another big point working against a good speech at a conference, is the incessant almost nervous need of the delegates to applaud after every 12 words. What you really need is the leader to be able to get out a paragraph at least before those tiresome obligatory claps. all those interuptions make the bloody thing appear to go on forever, so the sudience at home wilts.
There were some good funny moments, but that incident with David and the war, which wasnt spotted during live transmission but came to light later was very telling.

07:5072902PaulB - There have been some very good exciting speeches at conferences. In fact its easier to do when you are speaking to a friendly audience who are willing you to succeed. Red Ed's speech was lacklustre at best.

It was an unbiased view,
at the end of the day Ed's the leader and the party is now rallying behind him.
He has given his vision, as I indicated in other posts the old days have gone, stage managed conferences are the IN thing now.
But 17 m,onths time Ed will be p m
so lets get ready

No Idea why that is, a number of married or partners decide to keep there maiden name.
Yvette Cooper is one to watch, looks good on the rostrum, we are starting to see the Labour party re emerge and position itself ready for Goverment.

Here's the good lady herself Yvette Cooper, former treasury minister if Im not mistaken.
Yes indeed she is actually Mrs Balls...but she was well known as Yvette Cooper before she became Mrs Balls, so chose to stay with the name, and who could blame her. Mrs Balls would be a godsend for headline writers the nation over...

11:4872935I'm looking forward, to yvette, and other up and coming MP's, activists, Ed, the vasty amounts of Lib Dems who have ripped up here membership to join Labour.
This week ED started on the revitalised party, which I, and many like me have been waiting for.
If you all out there value things like the NHS you to will support this new move forward.
Make no mistake, the NHS is now under threat

It's fantastic you underestimate Yvetter Cooper.
Great, Labour on the way back
I'm looking forward to tories next week talking about dismantling the NHS
something they have no mandate for, but they will certainly NEVER be forgiven for.

I to met Hazel blears in warrington, she was a lot smaller than she looked on TV, a good speaker, and I asked her many questions from the floor, and spoke to her after.
One of the best MP's I met was MO MOLEM, fantastic lady.
anyway today Elain Castigan conservative on Sandwell council, has stood and defected to Labour, and is now a Labour cllr on Sandwell council, ashamed of her tory party.
So not only are the lib dems joining labour in there droves, this very high ranking tory on Sandwell council is also showing the tories to are fed up already with this co olition.
The clock is ticking

Dismantling the NHS - personally I would like to see that but sadly DC and most Tories would be against that.

You clearly, speak more openly of what you want to see from this cobbled together govt.
Sadly by action, DC and the govt realy believe in dismantling the NHS and shows by action, but won't like yourself publicly say it.
As for excitement, I'm not excited, just look for the need for a party to look after the poor who will be hit hardest by this cobbled together govt.
I don't do exitment, just gve my point of view.
I don't hide my lefty views, alhough have shown on other posts Im a little right wing sometimes
