Strange thread this one Howard - Reg spouts doom and gloom elsewhere, but here is proposing to sack thousands of people but not backing up the case.....
How about an answer in 2011 ?
Been nice knowing you :)

As it appears there is a reluctance to accept the priciples of``Economies of Scale``(throughout all Council expenditure items ) it will not be productive to continually answer ill-informed,superficial questions.
Best to wait for the result of our `legitimate` lobbying of the people who will make the decision.
We must beg to differ....please enjoy your photography.....Happy new year.
NB.Job losses will mainly be highly paid management teams of four Councils ( who quadruple the administration tasks )
when only one management team is required for an East Kent Council.

Sorry Reg, that is rather insulting to say that mine and Howard's questions are ill-informed and superficial !!
We are asking a simple question - with your idea of getting rid of the management team how much will it affect the bottom line of our council tax ??
Been nice knowing you :)

i echo that, the question has been quite clear.
i resent my question being called ill informed and superficial.
I have no great knowlege of local political setups , but if the waste and inefficency that the use of Economy of Scale in the NHS ,was replicated but its introduction intp local councils taxes could only rise !

Unfortunately more often than not it is the ill-informed decisions are the ones that are dangerous. Going forward without proper thought and research...

to be fair to reg
he has always been a great fan of a unitary council
we have all seen that we dont have a need for 3 councils and all the costs associated with them
even peter and I agree so must be something in it lol

Surely be a 'fan' then it should be easy to answer a straight-forward question ??

# 92.Sarah P...different scenario...we are taking away superfluous managers not putting them on.
Thats what the NHS reforms set out to do as well Reg , it didnt happen

That's right Sarah. They are the ones that implement the re-organisations. They tend just to shuffle around the titles & re-emerge in another guise.
Watch out for this occuring with these reforms. They are already working out new structures for themselves to slot into.
Watty
One of the biggest examples was the reintroduction of the Matron , all that happened was the managerial posts where renamed Matrons instead of Manager , the people , the role and the job stayed exactly the same, nothing changed , but the trusts could proudly proclaim that they had listened and The Matron was back , the reality was very diferent
