2 options as I see it.
A) reroute via Clarendon Street which is wider.
B) Double yellow lines on one side of Clarendon Place forcing those with garages or run ups behind their properties to use them.
Incidentally the bus cannot get through again today.

I took the 68 into town yesterday, from the folkestone rd stop, the drivers changed over at Taswell st, the out going driver told his replacement not to bother even trying to get up the hill because of the parking, so he by passed the whole area and went straight to maxton.

The last operator of the route was more flexible and if Clarendon Place was blocked most drivers would go along the Folkestone Road turn off into Belgrave Road and go to the junction of Clarendon Place before turning back. I will E-Mail Stagecoach later suggesting that the service is rerouted via Clarendon Street.

If this comes to fruition it should help unless they charge to much, parking permits might also help.

Had a reply back already from Stagecoach who agreed that Clarendon Street was a better bet but it is KCC who decide on the routing, will put it to them.

Another example of the elected classes arrogating to themselves the right to decide what is good for us plebeians and not letting the users and suppliers of goods and services make their own arrangements.
In many countries, shared taxis are the answer. They ply designated routes which can be varied on the fly, are usually 7 or 8 seat people carriers, will stop on demand and cost little more than buses. How often have we seen 79-seater buses trundling round the countryside, pushing out fumes and carrying 2 or 3 passengers?

16 days without a reply so I have asked County councillor Gordon Cowan to intervene.
No bus up this way again today.

It would seem that no one (except Howard!) is interested in resolving this issue, I use the 68 service and have spoken to the drivers who do thier best to get around the corner at the top of Malvern rd, maybe if traffic wardens went up there more then once a year it would help.

One of the main problems is company vans, especially civil engineering ones. Businesses have stopped having depots to cut costs and staff take their vans home with them. Most are in Clarendon Place but as the road is wider this can normally be accommodated. Traffic wardens are only assigned to places where revenue will be obtained and not where free flow of traffic can be improved.

You should see it around the Coombe valley area at the moment.Anywhere that there is no parking restrictions is taken up with contractors cars and vans who are building the new hospital. They will park on corners and pretty much anywere they can.Primrose road area is probably the worst as its close to the hospital,by 8.00am there isnt one single space available.Residents have no choice but to park on the pavements for their lunch hours or to unload shopping etc.

That car is making a complete mockery of our road traffic rules and laws, it should have been towed ages ago.

As mentioned before I made an official complaint on the DDC website. I also re-registered the vehicle during the last week.
Perhaps one of the councillors on the forum would like to follow up?

I wonder if the driver was under the influence having parked that badly, I bet he/she would complain like mad if the car got scratched or even keyed.
Where are the police or any other official when you need them.
