Well DT, for 13 years we had an MP who was no more than 'Labour's representative in Dover' and was ineffectual as an MP. Now we have someone who really is ready, able and capable of fighting Dover's corner as he has demonstrated.
HI Barry , I didnt read the comments as sad digs , but as humour ,much as we rib other forum membersor events . I dont know everyones posting history . I have made it really clear my opinion of Gwyn P and his lack of ability as a representative for Dover . Charlie , I dont know as I havnt seen him around apart from once when he was walking on the seafront . I still thnk DT1s comments where and are funny
ps I actually think mine was funnier

darren always posts with tongue firmly in cheek, has a great command of the language except for the words most of us have never heard of.

Barry I think you are reading what isn't there. All the comments that I can remember on the forum, even those who are left of centre, have praised Charlie as being a good MP for the district.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Jan - I was merely referring to the fact that Darren was revisiting discussions we have had before, he can't resist a dig on that - nothing heavy at all.

barryw
whilst expecting no different you are critical of gwyn
yet applaud garyc for being balanced in his views.
just to even things up,
i dont find charlie boy any better than gwyn
he started off well(like all new MP'S) but has since fallen away
so i agree with the conservative comment on charlie and the 1922 committee

LOL (no, not THAT LOL).....
I was referring to a specific post Gary made and why should I not say so when it is true? We have had many differences but that does not stop me agreeing when appropriate to do so.
As for CE and GP - they are chalk and cheese.
Far from 'falling away' it was not long ago he totally outwitted DHB over that amendment. I cannot imagine GP having the intelligence or initiative to do that. I am consistent in what I say about GP, he let Dover down badly and was only too ready to comply and fall into line and not question his ministers - the hospital issue around the time of the 2005 election for instance. By contrast Charlie is tireless in lobbying, chasing and pestering ministers on local issues.

too early to judge charlie we will have to wait and see if he gets any results, gwyn did actually get us the high speed rail link.
charlie has a reputation of being the campaigning type has lent his support to neil's port and the town team.
at one time he was always on the tv banging on about a proper hospital for dover irrespective of the subject under discussion but says little on the subject publicly now.

of course we have to take the longer view keith, does charlie have the will and stamina to follow things through..
a week or two he claimed the closure of the buckland birthing unit to be a good thing as it meant our planned new hospital would be a certainty.
i didn't see the connection.

you may well be right keith, charlie sided with the reds to get the amendment to the trust port thingy upsetting his colleagues and more importantly dave.
considering that he is on the modernising pro dave wing of the party it was a brave move on his part, even grabbed a headline but he may have upset the wrong people.

Just to clarify, that although I disagree with much (not all) that Barry posts, he is one of the few forum members that actually knows me on a personal level and is always very pleasant when we meet. I would never take personal offense, I enjoy it.
As for Mr Elphicke, I have just knocked on his door...still not home.
Probably walk with a pier...err, walk on the peer...errr - oh I get so confused.

your concern for charlies well being does you you credit darren, gary in post 96 confirms your fears that he is not eating well.
if he doesn't answer next time slide a sandwich through the letter box.
As DT1 says, all a bit of a jape! Entertaining, no offence offered or taken. I will add my view that Mr Elphick is helpful and considerate, articulate and knowledgeable. I also appreciated his support and intervention last year. He has my vote for sure. Some may say I am easily pleased, or have turned blue. Neither is true. I vote with my head and my heart and not a colour in sight.

brie and grape sandwiches were the in thing when i lived in london, not with me i hasten to add.
sort of thing served up at posh barry's.
cheese and branston doorstops are much more nourishing.
