Ok David..... DTIZ plans all stop tomorrow... what do you want done with the site and how will it be paid for ?
What I want to happen is the site is for it to be developed the way DDC announced years ago.
Like many others, I have no faith that the current administration is capable of fulfilling their promises. Sometimes you have to cut losses and start again.
Insanity is doing the same thing time and again and hoping for a different outcome.
I don't see how thet can MAKE anything happen, they can only try facilitate. If you have no faith in DDC achieving it what would you do next ?

Its odd Paul, other councils seem able to regenerate their towns, DDC on the other hands has spent £milions yet regenerated nothing.
You seem perfectly happy with that, I'm not.
What I would do next is a silly question really, the horse has bolted, the money has gone, its clear that companies don't have the faith in this area to invest, that reflects very poorly on those who's job it is to regenerate Dover.

I don't think it is wasted money as it hasn't gone, it is invested in prime land that could quite easily be sold for housing purpose. It is likely to be money that was for that purpose or not at all.
Maybe then DDC should sell it for that and get some housing estate built there?

actually we have had a few businesses relocating to dover and at least a couple more plan to do so, if the port issue was resolved it would encourage investors even more.

Well thats fine, you two seem perfectly happy, I'm not going to persuade you otherwise.
I will ask though Howard, who are these companies relocating?
And the port issue, the DTIZ was planned long before DPPT was even dreamed of.

I struggle to think of another possibility of how it could be financially viable to do something that will result in the demolition of Burlington House and the multi-story, both very costly exercises, and if I were an investor I would certainly wait until these obstables were out of the way !

It would buy more wood to put all the fencing needed to go round it,then we will look like a wild west fort.Wood all round and only huts inside.

holiday inn, a dutch trailer company at whifield, the one who are relocating their manufacturing from china(have you contacted them yet about their stationery), the ship repairing business that are moving more jobs into dover.
just off the top of my head, someone else will have full details, more shop units taken than elsewhere.
i nearly forgot, i think there is a market somewhere in town mostly full of traders that weren't here b efore.

The one thing that is missing from DTIZ is the one thing that the town lacks but is available in all our neighbours, a decent entertainment venue.
Can anyone remember the last time a nationally known entertainer, singer, musician, comedian etc who might be seen on the tv or who you could find in a music store appeared in Dover - the last one I remember is Steeleye Span at the town hall at least 11 years ago!
