First of the 2012 cruise ships

and a bit of the tall ship -if you look carefully you might spot the fishing tackle caught in the rigging after an idiot tried to cast over it and lost it when he got caught up

- 21 July 2012 21:58184022Windsurf finally departed and, true to form, instead of slipping out through the west she headed across the bay saying "look at me" by unfurling her sails between the POW Pier and the Eastern Entrance. No music this time tho' .

Dangling out of my window I got the picture now showing on the front page. Hope to see more of her soon..such a treat. Well done guys with the pictures, always great, have put a link through again from the frontpage. We are having lots of viewers on this one too, so great to see all the pictures on show for all to enjoy.

I wonder why Portsmouth. Sad about that. But Southampton is clearly doing well. Almost every evening I see great cruise liners moving down the channel, no doubt all heading for Southampton and bypassing us here. One night, I think it was thursday or frinday just gone.. three came down the channel almost together. Quite a sight. It was dark so no photo..but three together! The following night two came down almost together...they all show a blaze of lights. Busy cruising days these. As an industry/business it is certainly thriving despite rumours of austerity.
yes Brian there was a Saga in yesterday, the Quest for Adventure, and here she is out on the high seas having just left Dover late last evening.

As a result, their cruise trade is year round too. It helps that Carnival UK's head office is in Southampton.

An interesting shot of the Nautica above with the elegant Eendracht nestling alongside her - 24 July 2012 14:25184360Wind Surf was originally one of a pair of large motor sailing yachts built for Club Med. She was named Club Med 1 and was later purchased by Windstar Cruises and renamed Wind Surf.
Here are some close-ups of her sister ship, Club Med 2, in Valencia in 2006.
