Shure no probs PaulB, you're very welcome and I know Howard welcomes it Sometimes there may be the odd blip in the schedule as things may change for various reasons throughout the season.
Yes the Braemar cancelled schedule has lost jobs for some people, shame but thats how it goes.

Blimey just noticed this thread gone just over 10,000 viewings..great stuff.

Couple of interesting pics to add. Looks like there was some emergency drill taking place today..involving LIfeboats and other vessels. Might be to do with the Olympics..isnt everything right now! Here are a couple of pictures taken about 1pm today. That's the Ocean Princess cruise liner in the background.

Lol! Howard here are more of those Somali pirates..

This pic looks great large but have to limit its size here..lots of subtle colours on the sea. Yes indeed more Olympic manouevres. There are two Lifeboats, as a reserve boat was called in, this just in case they get an emergency call out durning the ceremony. The Lifeboat will collect the flame from the Tall Ship as per schedule..should be worth seeing. Hope the visibility is good for a few pictures.

The Costa Romantica and the Saga Sapphire in today as scheduled.

All quiet on the cruise front today, but here's one I made earlier...lol

Costa Romantica featured there as also shown by Howard in the shots above and the Torch carrying tall ship Stavros S Niarchos. Chalk and cheese!

Some more interesting visitors this week. The German cruise ship, Europa, which called on Tuesday is consistently rated as the world's best luxury cruise ship. She may not be the biggest, but by all accounts, one of the best in the world.

We've had one tall ship this week bringing the Olympic Torch to Dover, and this Saturday sees the return of the Wind Surf, a sail powered cruise ship. The weather's looking better too for Saturday so she'll make quite a sight in the harbour.

I wonder Kevin or Colette..re the Wind Surf
do we know what time it is due at. Not one to miss.

Got pictures of it in full sail once..but they were lost on an old computer when it collapsed. Still have one or two small abbreviations of the original pic but obviously not as good. Would be keen to get some more for sure. Dont want to be in Tesco or something when it all happens..

Europa is part of the Hapag-Lloyd fleet of four small luxury ships. Although not being regular visitors to Dover they've all called here in the last ten years. The company was formed out of an amalgamation of the old Hamburg Amerika Line and Norddeutscher Lloyd, both founded in the mid 19thC, and which between them operated over 300 ships at the start of WW1, including some of the greatest transatlantic liners of all time.

I missed seeing he Europa this time around but here are a couple of scanned prints of her here in Sept. 2005.

The DHB list of cruise calls doesn't give a time for Wind Surf, but the Marine Traffic website has an ETA of 0700 on Saturday morning.

Yep was up to greet it and it came right on schedule, right on the button at 7am...just a few minutes ago.

This is quite a beauty and no mistake...the tall ship that brought the Torch is still here and this one dwarfs it, must be 6 or 8 times larger. It wasnt under full sail alas but you cant have everything. Sadly the weather was slate grey again, although it is brightening up a bit. I suspect some of our ace men will be down on the pier to greet it and get better ones close up.

Not sure if I do it justice there.

Also in is the familar Ryndam..mucho thanks Kevin and John as ever, keep it up lads.

Definitely one for the enthusiasts and very worth seeing. May get better pictures tonight you never know...leaving in colourful sunshine in full sail...well one lives in hope!

Another view of Wind Surf this morning from the beach. Unfortunately, the Prince of Wales Pier isn't open this early. It always surprises me that the Prince of Wales pier is not open to the public earlier at this time of year. The sun is coming we are told and a lot of local people, and tourists, like an early morning walk down the pier. It's also a great opportunity to get up close to the cruise ships.

Here you can see the difference in size between the Wind Surf and Stavros S. Niarchos.

Great stuff Kevin, well done. My Gawd you were fast with those considering you were on the beach. Yes that second one shows the difference in scale between the two..as the kids would say .. awesome!

From the Admiralty Pier, shame it as a bit dull. However as Paul says, the weather looks as if it's going to improve later and we may see her put on a show as in post 280.

She's set to sail at 4 pm and the Ryndam at 5.

Disney Cruise Line did not deploy a ship in Northern Europe this year. They predominantly sail in the US - east and west coast - where they can package their cruises along with a visit to one of their theme parks. They are cruising the Med again this year I believe. Fingers crossed they make a return to Dover in the not too distant future. As you say, Howard, their ships are very distinctive and the high profile brand is great for Dover.

Good to know about the Marine Traffic website Kevin

It has turned out a beautiful day for the visiting Windsurf so yes you guys may get a pic of her later in glorious sunshine. Shame as Kevin says, that the Pier doesn't open earlier at this time of year.
