  She would look a lot better with a decent funnel. The twin funnels seem to be the trademark of this company. Nice picture though Paul.

  Here we are with some more yellow funnels Alec...took some pictures late evening as there was some reasonable light. I noticed a yellow funnel vessel coming down the channel and with these yellow funnels going up the channel as the near ship had just left Dover, I thought it would make an interesting shot. The same cruise line passing each other kind of thing. All a long way off though... but I lay in wait for the moment to arrive and here it is...ships passing in the night ( well...evening anyway!)
  
  

  

  
  
  

  

  
  
  Obviously the ship featured is the Costa Romantica or neoRomantica...the one in the distance (top pic) I dont know. I thought it was another Costa ship initially but the funnels dont look the same. To the naked eye way out in the channel it looked the same company but in the picture...??
  
  Howard is right on previous page...the bit of sun can make all the difference to the pictures.
  
  PS: By the way the 2 cruise liners in today are small but both look near identical, buy one get one free! Visibility poor.

  Ah!! sure there's nothing like a bit of sunshine to show these magnificent cruise ships at their very best. A very interesting shot above there PaulB, maybe Ed, John or Kevin might know which ship that is in the distance

  Cruise Terminal came to life last night about 2300 hours, the the Nautica arrived just after midnight and the Ocean Princess about 0400 hours, a very slick operation as always.

  As Ed says, that was the Aurora enroute to Southampton, where all seven ships in the P&O fleet were in port together today to mark P&O's 175th anniversary. Quite a sight, but the traffic would have been horrendous! Was lucky enough to have a look around Aurora when she first entered service with P&O as my dad used to work for them and was a shareholder in Carnival who own most of the big name brands in cruising.

  Two interesting visitors in Dover today as well. The Ocean Princess (Princess Cruises) and Nautica (Oceania Cruises), former sisterships from Renaissance Cruises. They went belly up after 9/11 in the US. They had ordered a fleet of eight identical ships with the rather unimaginative names of R1, R2 ..... you guess the rest!

  It must be quite a spectacle to see all seven of the P&O fleet together. Wow!!! 175yrs! that's a lot of years.
  
  That's very odd Howard, I just fetched out the DHB schedule and it does say that both the Braemar and Saga Ruby are due in today

  Today here in Dover, probably a wee bit average in comparison to the above, but the regulars..The Black Watch and The Ryndam are in today, basking in the sun as I write. I hope I havent put the kybosh on the day mentioning the early sun.

  Slate grey dismal conditions again today to greet this particular beast..this one is big and impressive, one for the serious aficionados. Called The Sun Princess..alas not much sun this morning to greet her. Here she is arriving at 5.30am on the dot this very morn. Conditions were still darkish and of course very slate greyish so pictures are similar...oh for a blue sky and a bit of sunlight

  Yes the Sun Princess was a gorgeous visitor.. hope to see some more of that one. The familiar twin yellow funnels of the Costa line in again today..in the shape of the Romantica see pictures at the top of page.
  
  Although not a cruise liner I think I ought to add yesterdays exciting visitor to this thread which acts as a record to show all the exciting visitors this year.
