We cannot use our Kent passes on the Manchester trams, shame as it is a wonderful service. Buses yes but trams no.

Thanks Howard.
I had a reply from Property Services to say they would repair it, but that is remarkebly quick; hope the replacement pane doesn't take too long to get. I think it's the etching that takes the time.
I am waiting on a reply from a close neighbour to see if they will allow a camera to be fixed to their wall.

Roger, you may have seen empty buses, such as when they are not in service for passengers, or heading to the start of their shift.
Also, when a bus starts its course, it may take on 5 or 6 passengers, but more will ascend at other bus stops.
You need to calculate the number of people who got on the bus during its whole course from starting point to destination.
It could also be that you see a bus half empty when it arrives at Pencester Road, because most passengers have descended at previous bus stops, such as Barton Road, Frith Road or any other road.
Therefore, in order to make an estimation on how many people travel by bus, and present this to Dover District Council for a future enhanced bus strategy, I would do an enhanced and thorough study beforehand.
This means physically travelling by bus now and again to become aware of the realities, which differ considerably to your view.

Alex, no need to do an advanced study, if you've been on a bus recently you'll have noticed those little boxes by the driver that issue the tickets, they have a record of every journey made.

Well hopefully our DDC Councillor Roger will become more aware of how buses are of essential importance for the Community.

I have always appreciated the need for buses to our - and every, community. I have never said anything different. All I was saying, is that walking down to town, or driving around, I have never seen a full bus - it's just a comment/observation, that's all.
As Ray said, the bus companies will know the figures for bus usage. No one is setting a policy about any bus service, so why twist what I've said Alexander ?
Your posting:
"Therefore, in order to make an estimation on how many people travel by bus, and present this to Dover District Council for a future enhanced bus strategy, I would do an enhanced and thorough study beforehand." is pointless and unnecessary.

The 89 to Canterbury via Eythorne and Aylesham is usually only a quarter full as far as Whitfield, then it carries one or two passengers to Eythorne, usually then empty until Aylesham. I have often been the only passenger on it.

Just picked up on this thread.Keith is correct more buses to Canterbury ,Deal and Folkestone.I was on the 61 last Tuesday, very few empty seats .Very frequent service from Tesco into Dover,so many people are using the buses The rural areas e,i,Eythorne and Elvington need the buses. Its good that communities are linked.
Try the 60a at peak times full to capacity.
I often take a study tour around the district .I know my bus routes.

rural routes will never see full buses, many are run with a subsidy from kcc at present. the bus from deal round the villages to dover is usually busy, but the stage from pencester road to st martins battery and the citadel is usually me and sometimes one other. coming back down usually no-one.

Roger, ref. 391, I was referring to a future period when DDC will have had a new Council after a future election.
