much as the shelter would be safe and admired by many at the castle, i don't like the thought of english heritage benefitting from it.

IF---IF a decision was made to move it, the logical place to go would be the Transport Museum.

What more could you want? A heritage item in its rightful and correct location-I don't see the problem-the vandals can get stuffed. The shelter is not at risk...is it? With all due respect to the guys at the Transport Museum (they do a brilliant job) -I think they probably have more pressing priorties. Paul,I hope that 'IF' is a large one.

I do not agree if it is moved to the Transport Museum,(1) It will only be looked at by a few, with it going to the Castle it will be sean by 1000s and from all over the world, more in one day then the museum in a year.(2) It will be put back into use again with the public siting in it waiting for the castle road bus to take them to all parts of the castle.Think ahead. And no more cost for repairs, and if it needs to be painted at anytime it will be done by E/H.

Howard-it would not be moved in one piece-it would have to be dismantled(perish the thought of the damage it would suffer during this), moved and put into storage-could be the kiss of death.

This all begs the question whether the transport museum is in the right place.

Again you are wrong it could all be moved in one piece,we have moved much bigger onces than that in one piece, sorry but you must know what you are talking about before posting, you would not have to take any windows out,the only thing that might be done is a few heads of bolts burn off and they can easy be renewed. And there is a local company that could do it,and replace it, in its new home. all in one hit.
