As you will be aware I was not on the Town Council last year,but as I understand it the company that installed them have gone bankrupt and another Council were let down as well,I dont know if the lights were inspected. As I said the new Town Clerk looked for some companies to quote,and a survey was agreed to check out what we have got,and it wasnt good reading.
Brian WE WILL HAVE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS! and the only Ebenezzer Scrooge may live in Aycliffe ( not my mate Jimmy Hood)but here in the Town there will be Christmas Festivities and alot is being planned.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Some of the stories in this Town are amazing,my Mum just called and asked if the Council is really spending £250,000 on a firework display for the Olympic Flame,the simple answer is No! Two ladies talking seemed to be making things up,and the sad part is other people believed them!

To quote JHG 'the only Ebenezzer Scrooge may live in Aycliffe( not my mate Jimmy Hood)'. So are you refering to the other councillor for the ward?

Is this now an opportunity for shopkeepers and other businesses to do some forward planning to make their premises especially attractive with special displays for Christmas !!
Here is a shop with a good display.

SO WHY FEW WORDS FROM THE ALLIANCE PARTY??? seems the cost is over £60,000 can we afford it/?
The ex christmas lights not fir for purpose i understand was authorised by a alliance cllr given the remit to get xmas lights for Dover.
it appears not only did he get sub standards lights, but wasn't aware when reporting to the council that he also had to pay for electricity!!!
he has caused a major hiccup both on the lights but also the cost to us taxpayers

BRIAN;
£60,000 is alot of dosh to find in any cash strapped council, and had a better job beenn done by that geezer in the first place then we wouldn't be in this postion
