As granny suggests, players leaving can be due to many different factors but basically it could be as simple as being offered more money to play for a club closer to home, being able to train in the daytime instead of the evening and perhaps they actually want to play football instead of Dover’s predominantly dire style of hoof ball?
Whatever the reason is, it seems that it certainly doesn’t take too much for large numbers to vacate the place at the end of each season!

Judith;
The long travelling as I say
the club I understand brought a house in London
this was I understand to enable to recruit from further afield and players make use of the house for less travelling.
I thing john/Judith/ others
are correct there needs to be some quick decisions by the board or more problems are to come
Sadly Dover needs less the poster that doesn't support the club and only goes to watch football when there winning .
That's not real support

You talk nonsense Keith.
I have supported Dover most of my life I haven't been to a match in 15 years! Why because I have better/more important things to spend my money, I do play striker and buy Christmas raffle tickets but as has been previously said, i don't have the spare cash for the gate, sorry I'm not as dedicated as you. Perhaps you'd prefer I changed clubs?

I refer to post 18.

of course it can become expensive to support the club
but you support the club as you say unlike post 18

There is a lot of conjecture about whether our local club want to go into the Football league and go full time. In this article we have a player a few years back earning £.6000. 00 a month playing in the same league as Dover do now - quite a sobering thought.

Maybe if the FA and the top money grabbing teams and players were to financially provide more support the minor local teams, their grounds and the quality of their players might improve.
I have no interest in football but still support Dover both verbally and by purchasing my Striker tickets every week.

You raise a really good point there jan
In years gone by the top Premier clubs put pressure on the FA to increase there money so the FA took it away from the smaller clubs in FA earlier rounds which for clubs like Dover can be a life line for survival
But at the time some Premier clubs were threatening to break away from the FA so they crumbled

Not really up to speed with football finances but do the FA control so much money nowadays? The Premier league cream off a fortune from Sky and BT sport and keep it to themselves whilst the Football league get money from the same sources but most are for Championship games so maybe League 1 and 2 clubs get nothing. That just leaves FA cup games and England internationals for them to get revenue from.

What can you say? A poor first half (I was still walking to the stands when Barnet's first went in). A better second half. Brundle and Passley tried to keep it going, but there's no quality in the squad, no game-changer and Effiong still doesn't know where his feet are. The loanee defender Smith looks comfortable on the ball, passes well, has a sweet left foot and can strike a dead ball cleanly. But I'm sure CK'll show him the Dover way.

When's a good time to change a manager if you need to?, or do you leave it in hope?
Without change it looks like Dover are going to be fighting relegation
That's fine if that's all the clubs wants
But watching the chairman I think he wants more
Monies probably an issue
I'm sure the board and watching the situation closely

Two terrible teams, but a valuable point.
A few beers and friendly locals. Just arriving into London for a couple more beers, then home.

Yes, it's our poorest squad for years. Yes, we've no goal-scorers, no defenders and no midfielders. Yes, most fans would rather do the washing up than visit Crabble right now. But fear ye not, neither be afraid: the form guide doesn't lie and over the last 4 games it sees us sitting 20th, with 4 teams below us and on a par with Barrow and Chesterfield. We may be bottom of the league but things are certainly looking up. Oh yes! Oh yes! Oh yes!

Yet another defender arrived at the club this week and we lose. Nothing has changed. Everything has changed. CK hasn't successfully addressed any of the problems that were evident to anyone with eyes a long 12 games ago on the first day of the new season. If we get nothing from the two this week (Sutton away Tuesday, Barrow at home Saturday) I think CK'll be gone by the end of the month. Take it away Frank, 'The days grow short when you reach September and JP hasn't got time for the waiting game...'
