Some of the threads have got themselves tied up around religion, apart from one poster who is clear where he is coming from, and heavily into religion, the vast majority have lots of differing views.
For me, I went through all the catholic schools, did it help me? well in the strict upbringing at home, and teaching of right from wrong, I suppose this put me on the right track.
Unfortunatly like we see in most religions there are bad apples, and sadly I came across quite a few in my time who called themselves Christians, when in fact they sinned mon to sat, went to confession to have there sins forgiven mass sunday
then did it all again mon to sat.
then theres the kids sexually assaulted by priests
to my own experiences which were not that good.
talking with others who went through other catholic backgrounds they had very similar issues which was interesting that it was quite widespread.
This didn't turn me off religion, but got me to respect everyones point of view
not push religion onto people
interesting world though.

Ah, what it is to have catholic tastes.

In my experience the vast majority of people with religious beliefs regard their faith as a private matter and do not wear it on their sleeves. You are therefore unlikely to receive many posts on this thread from committed Christians.

And even more threads have got themselves tied up around politics.

Indeed Carole.
Religion lies at the heart of all war, throughout time, with greed, persecution and repression being its main weapons.
I've found that in life, those who are most christian in nature are not those that proclaim themselves to be Christian.

not actually true paul, the two world wars, vietnam, korea and countless other conflicts had no religious connections whatsoever.

The first World War had its origins from the Habsburg - Valois rivalry Howard, the endgame of the Holy Roman Empire, whilst Hitler's obsession with the occult and Norse legends led him to believe he was the true heir of Odin and that the 1000 year Reich would be testament to his godlike status.
I'll grant that Korea and Vietnam were conflicts arising from the spread of communism, (which to its leaders had reached the level of religious fervour).
If one assesses each conflict deeply, at the root will be religious differences - they may not be immediately obvious but they are there.

Keith, as you know by now, my policies and views are:
1) Non interventionism in other people's wars in Asia and Africa.
During the Coalition we have seen the war against Libya (Africa), and the ongoing war in Afghanistan (Asia).
2) Britain to campaign for all countries that have nuclear weapons to agree to dismantle them.
3) To help impoverished countries that suffer drought to introduce irrigation and soil-preservation policies, and to help them out with free aid when necessary - aid that does not need to be money sent there, but rather products produced in the UK.
(The money would remain in Britain and would boost local production, such as in the field of agriculture.
For example, the State gives £100 million in aid to North Africa by purchasing £100 million of food from British farmers and sending the food to the Sahara countries.)
These are some examples from my Christian Faith policies that show that the Christian Faith does not preach any of the wizz wozz that Paul comes out with.

Keith said. " don't mention religion lol "
I don't think for whatever subject someone will get the soap box out.
Dover Forum ought to go live in the market square with a certain name on the box.
Maybe not a good idea eh.
