Jan, the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and again and hoping for a different result.

real thread drift, bit of a pity as the cgi plans are the biggest thing to happen in dover for decades.

Yes that's true Howard, I think its a case of "we'll believe it when we see it".
I have zero confidence in DDC delivering the goods.

they have delivered the goods by passing the plans david - now down to the secretary of state.

Better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all!! Needs to be DDC's attitude from now on!! I will make every effort to attend the next Town Team Meeting David, if only to support what you're trying to do for the town. The easy bit is having the ideas but the real work comes bringing them to fruition.

Oh come on Howard, passing plans can be done by anybody, its fulfilling them that is difficult.
Pauline's last line sums it up, Dover has been awash with plans and ideas for decades - why on earth don't they come to fruition?

Re: 121 (don't have a key for the hash), I wonder if DDC is suffering from OCD? It is certainly displaying all the symptoms with it's repetitiveness. Can it be cured??

the developers can do what they planned now david unless the secretary of state intervenes, the planning dept have been hammered on here and elsewhere for seeming intransigence in the past.
the plans are incredibly complicated but all has come good with great benefits for dover.

Whilst the pessimist in me tells me that this will be another DTIZ disaster, I sincerely hope that the whole CGI thing proceeds; not just because of what it means for the historic environment, but also for Dover as a whole. This place needs a catalyst for regeneration - let's hope that this current timeframe is the 'bottom of the barrel' as far as Dover is concerned.
It would appear that thankfully (or should I say finally?) DDC planning seem to have stepped up to the mark and shown some imagination, let's hope that the council now steps away from the project and lets the professionals see the project through. The last thing that anyone needs now is for a bunch of semi-literate amateurs to keep sticking their fingers in the pie.
Of course, the other obstacle as far as turning the Drop Redoubt into a fully fledged tourist destination will be English Heritage...
