Good morning Alec, glad you had a nice day. You should have introduced yourself and helped me with the stalls

bad weather forecast for market day tomorrow and unlike last year they cannot the former shop there.
last time i went past they still had the "let by" sign outside but no indication when it will be occupied.

I would not have expected the market to be there tomorrow regardless of the predicted wind and rain.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Being pro-active by going out and about to neighbouring towns and farmers-markets, is the only way to really increase the stall-holder numbers, to create a street-market that actually means something and one that Dover can be proud of too.
Real stall-holders will also have their own stalls.

I often hear people say we should have a farmer's market but i don't can't imagine one being successful with Farthingloe farm so close by and the highly successful one at Capel.

I'm not particularly saying we should have a farmers-market Howard, but some of the stall-holders there may be happy to have another outlet to sell their goods; but we'll never know.

Passed by where the market normally is only one lonely trader this morning, who was selling children's close not what you might call busy, the poor lady look well fed up & very cold. Did not anybody tell that there was no market this week.

I am surprised that a stall holder turned up at all as usually markets die off after Christmas for a month or two. I think there is now a market manager/co-ordinator running things, he has his work cut out.
