Is anyone in touch with the man/woman in charge of the weather? 6am tomorrow, please can we have no rain or wind? Compromise option would be cold!

You should be ok when setting up but 10.00 onwards is a bit iffy.

Read Jan's link, the one below is less optimistic for early am...

Looking forward to it! It is all worth it though, lots of stalls, lots of customers braving the weather

seemed to be a stall or two short this morning but the lay out was much neater and a fairly steady footfall when i went through soon after 11 a.m.

I have to admit the weather put me off my visit this morning so did not make it down to buy my fudge or fish for which the bathroom scales breathe a sigh of relief. I hope others were a lot braver than myself and the stall holders do a roaring trade.

Bit disappointing turnout today, 35 stalls booked approx 8 no-shows due to the weather.
Still, theres always next week, we're aiming to book 40.

Well, there were 10 stallholders who either didn't turn up or apologised at the last minute due to the weather.
I don't want to be dramatic about this, but the stallholders are generally putting themselves out to come to Dover to take part in the market. There is literally something for everyone there, but we do need the Townsfolk to come along and support it. Dover wants/needs a boost, so Dover must help itself by turning out!
Despsite the weather and the no-shows, we do have 3 new stalls this week. We can't do much about the weather, but we can show some spirit and keep this going!
Overall though, I think this is a roaring success and I for one am very pleased to be involved.
PS The christmas pudding fudge is awsome!

Unfortunately I've got quite a few things on today, so unable to visit the market this week. I was looking forward to getting some 'Game'

Check Cappers in Charlton Centre Barry, he has game now and then and I am sure you could order some from them, he knows some local gamekeepers.

The 'game' all sold out just after midday. Still some lovely olives and cheeses, bread, doughnuts, fish ((Lorna bought a whole crab), Duck eggs, jewelry of various types and makes, fudge, CDs, candles, soap, and lots more. The Christmas Pudding fudge is indeed awesome.
Take a nice brolly and take a stroll around.

you cannot blame stall holders for not turning up if there is a strong chance of inclement weather, they have to get up at a ridiculous hour to load up and drive to the market, then all the work involved in setting up. it can be 5 hours from leaving the house until the market actually opens for business.

Come on Howard they're market traders not cissy DDC workers
Take Sue Seafood, leaves Dover for Billingsgate at 2.00am, back to set up her stall, tidies up with pockets bulging whatever the weather. You make nothing sat indoors.

David:

the traders in my nearest market are out in all weathers and just as well because I purchase my veg and meat from them every week.

Good for you Carole, the superstores have a big enough share, local markets are about keeping money in the local economy.
