Indeed. from my weather oracle last night, I offer:-
*** KENT WINTRY WEATHER - update 2 ***
Confidence remains very high for a significant winter weather event. Snowfall is now probable.
The deep cold pool has reached Riga in Latvia (1100 miles away) as of 18:00 hrs this evening and will continue to track westwards towards the UK, arriving in Kent on Sunday evening.
The cold pool is the deepest since the February 1991 meaning that daytime temperatures are unlikely to exceed 0c (32f) for a few days.
Snow showers are likely to develop on Monday morning, becoming frequent and heavy at times, persisting through most of Tuesday and possibly early Wednesday.
I'm massively sticking my neck out here but significant accumulations (15cm +) are likely by midweek in many places, especially over the higher ground and towards the north and east of the county.
Drifting is likely to result in exposed areas due to a fresh to strong (force 5 to 6) ENE'ly breeze.
Confidence from Wednesday onwards is low but the likelihood is for the very cold conditions to continue until next weekend with a risk of heavy snowfall at times.
Next update - Saturday

What is your oracle's percentage success rate in prediction?

Pretty naff, to be honest, as are most of them. I always feel somewhat heartened by Gandalf's words in Lord of the Rings - "I am no weather master and nor is aught that walks on two legs".
That said, the dog has been behaving somewhat oddly.

Just checked the BBC website again and some snow is predicted for next Tuesday and Wednesday in Dover but on no other days next week.

Kent OnLine mentions an amber warning for snow for Monday 1600 to Tuesday 2355 (a bit precise!). Who do we believe? No doubt whoever is on the BBC tonight will hedge their bets.......

Cold enough this morning without any need for snow, had to put fresh water out for the birds.

A snowflake landed on my head in town earlier so naturally I went straight to Morrison's and stripped their shelves of all perishables.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

How do you know they were silly panic buyers?

The forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday in Dover is more of the same - windy with sunny intervals and snow flurries. Don't know what I will do with those barrow loads of meat and vegetables stuck in my shed.

I have been panic drinking in case the snow materialises.
Mind you, it's more like the Pussycat from the East so far.

Dont all run to shops at once now
the beast is coming by looks of this - I have stacks of candles- food stock - heating- extra stove and fuel- large snow shovel and blankets for all traffic that gets stuck in my road for people out driving and getting stuck. I am always prepared for anything because that what my survial and be prepared booklet told me to do that was posted some year ago to all of Dover it said be prepared. SO I DID. Bit like the grasshopper and ant story really

Just to say my sister was born in the great freeze of 1963 that lasted weeks not predicted but happened. I hear the Polar Vortex has split in two so I think it could be another 1963 just my thoughts

A light covering of snow outside but could be very slippery in the morning, better to have thick snow so footwear can get a grip.
