Knowing you to be a stickler for protocol as per the gentle ribbing on the "Are you being served" thread, I am a bit surprised to find you addressing your able sidekick Alexander.D by the diminutive Alex. I am sure that you will have read his articles on Suite 101 and are aware that his full name is Dimitri Alexander so am mildly curious as to why you feel it correct to address him by a diminutive of his surname. Does he refer to you as Match?

For our younger viewers, Mr.Ed was a talking horse on a black and white TV show. I have two nicknames on my ship (that I know of). One is "The Edge" which refers to a pop musician whom I had never heard of until I looked him up. The other is Reg Crew (too complicated - don't ask!). A Polish colleague also tells me that I am the spitting image of a Polish comic named Zdzislaw Wardejn. He showed my photo to his wife and she was in hysterics. Nice to know that I am big in Poland.

Alexander is the name my dad gave me, and I chose to use it.
My dad's surname at birth is Byford, and any other explaining has been done on the UKIP thread months ago. The whole fact is that my grandmother changed my dad's surname when he was about a year old, because his parents split up, and she married someone called Clarke, who became his step-dad. So I thought if she can do it, so can I, and I changed Clarke.
Now really, Alexander or Alex will do, no more on this!
More importantly, did you all read my article on bagpipes?
However, thanks Ed and Vic for reading my articles, it makes me happy to know that people read them. Presently I am doing a course in computer skills, and hope to put up a blog before long.
